TEACHER LIST. The Board shall establish and maintain an Occasional Teacher List. The onus is on the Occasional Teacher to ensure that up-to-date information and documentation is on file with the Human Resources Services Department of the Board. To be eligible for inclusion on the Occasional Teacher List, an Occasional Teacher must hold a Certificate of Qualification or an Interim Certificate of Qualification as a teacher in an elementary or secondary school and be a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers or must be a person employed to teach under the authority of a Letter of Permission pursuant to the Education Act and its Regulations. To be eligible for inclusion on the Occasional Teacher List, an Occasional Teacher must submit proof of current Ontario certification, and all other required documentation including a current original criminal background check, if necessary, and subsequent annual offence declarations. In order for an Occasional Teacher to be accepted for placement on the Occasional Teacher List, the Occasional Teacher shall: select a specific school or family of schools; J ntermed elect to be placed on the List in a Specialty Column, provided that the Occasional Teacher holds and supplies to the Manager of Human Resources Services the appropriate verification of qualifications, as per the Certificate of Qualification; and select one or more of the following Alternative Schools (Pembroke or Renfrew). specify day and time of availability. Each Occasional Teacher shall be assigned the regularly scheduled supervision duties and workload of the who is being substituted or the equivalent of the regularly scheduled supervision duties and workload of the being replaced. The Board will endeavour to ensure an equitable distribution of work where practical. TEACHER LIST. Up-to-date Occasional Teacher Lists shall be sent to the Local Occasional Teachers' Union President by November and by April of each year. These shall provide the following information for each Occasional Teacher: name, telephone number, home address, qualifications, availability, and schools where the Occasional Teacher is prepared to teach. An Occasional Teacher's name shall remain on the Occasional Teacher List unless is terminated, resigns, or is no longer available for assignment. Notwithstanding the foregoing, an Occasional Teacher who wishes to be continued on the Occasional Teacher List for the following school year shall notify Human Resources Services by June 30th on a form sent to each Occasional Teacher by June Human Resources Services shall remove from the Occasional Teacher List the name of any Occasional responsibility of each Occasional Teacher to confirm that their form has been received by Human Resources Services prior to the June deadline. The Board will advise the Local Occasional Teachers' Union, with a copy to the Local Occasional Teachers' President, of the names and addresses of all new Occasional Teachers within thirty days of their names being added to the Occasional Teacher List. TEACHER LIST. An Occasional Teacher must be qualified to teach in Ontario, and hold a current Certificate of Registration from the Ontario College of Teachers to be eligible for inclusion on the Occasional Teacher List. The maximum number of Casual Occasional Teachers shall be of the number of full-time elementary teachers employed by the Board as of September of each school year, plus all Extended or Long Term Occasional Teachers. The maximum number of Occasional Teachers is therefore dependent upon the number of Elementary Teachers employed by the Board, In the event that an unusually high number of Occasional Teachers are employed in Extended or Long Term assignments at a given point in time, the Board may request of the Union that the number of names on the list be increased in order to maintain a sufficient pool of names for casual assignments. Pursuant to such a request, the number of names on the list may be increased, but only with the written consent of the Union, and only to the extent that the Union permits. The Union has the right to stipulate that, as of a date of its choosing, no new names may be added until the number of names on the list falls below the original number. Additions to the Occasional Teachers’ List shall be made during or after September for the current school year and from time to time as the need arises in consultation with the Union. Such additions will address the emergent geographic, subject area, and grade level needs. The Master List shall provide a summary of the data on the Agreement to Teach Form including, but not limited to, the following information for each Occasional Teacher: name, telephone number, subjects that the Occasional Teacher is qualified to teach, number of days or specific days of the week the Occasional Teacher is available to work, and specific schools where the Occasional Teacher has been assigned, Long Term teaching assignments and the expected expiry date of the said assignments, Home School designation, and interest in long term or contract positions.
