Education Courses. (a) The Board will pay a Teacher presently in Category A4 who earns a post graduate degree recognized by QECO 5 which has not been used to determine Category placement in A4, a one-time allowance of five hundred ($500) per degree. (b) Teachers hired prior to September 1993 will receive payment of five hundred dollars ($500) per year for each post graduate degree above and beyond placement on the grid.

Education Courses. Where employees are required by the Employer to take courses to upgrade or acquire new. employment qualifications, the Employer shall pay the full costs associated with the courses. If required by the Employer, an employee shall be entitled to leave of absence with pay and without loss of seniority and benefits to write examinations to upgrade his or her employment qualifications. Time spent by an employee in the attendance at short courses, workshops, or seminars (e.g. courses) if required by the Centre and directly related to the employee's employment at the Centre, shall be deemed to be work hours as set out in Article Hours of Work and remunerated accordingly. It is understood and agreed that no overtime payment will be incurred by the Employer for any time spent by an employee on any Education Leave or In-service Courses.

Education Courses that the is notified by August 15th of each year, the Fire may book members to attend the Fire College as the sixth (6) person for four weeks per platoon outside of the nine to and the nine (9) weeks the first (1st) Monday in August and the week of the Spring (Easter) break. other for Education Courses will be the seventh person off, providing that the Association will be notified prior to the monthly draw. In the event of a Special Course becoming available after the regular monthly draw and there are still days available, the Fire Chief may book days for these courses. This person shall be considered the seventh person. Days when booked by the Association shall be considered part of the seven Seven persons off on any reasons listed in heading One person sick cancel the seventh person immediately. Note: In order to make this article work, it will be necessary to cancel the seventh persons immediately the eighth person books sick in with previous article of this Agreement. The cancellations will continue the person off sick notifies the dispatcher he is returning to work. The officer in charge of the platoon will assume the off sick until notify the dispatcher when will be returning to duty. Any employee calling in sick must clearly state how many shifts he will be absent and must call in prior to his platoon going off duty that he not be in the next shift, otherwise, lieu days will be cancelled for succeeding days.
Education Courses. During each year of the current contract, members may take a college course, seminar, or workshop, which will assist them in their clerical employment. The total available compensation per contract year is $800.00. It will be distributed to the first four (4) clerical employees who apply or until the total sum is claimed. The compensation is available for tuition, books, or related course fees.

Education Courses a) All employees who successfully complete educational course(s) approved at least thirty (30) days in advance by the Employer shall be reimbursed for the amount expended by the employee in payment of tuition for each course(s) and the reimbursement for text books necessary for completion of the course(s) according to the following schedule: 100% for an A or B, and 75% for a C. To be entitled to reimbursement, employees must take courses for a letter grade if such option exists. If a course is offered pass/fail only, the employee will be reimbursed 100% of the amount expended if the employee receives a grade of pass.
Education Courses. 25.1 The Employer shall pay the cost of a work-related academic or technical course, work-related convention or seminar approved by the applicable Director and/or designate. If an employee’s application for approval is denied, the employee shall be given the reason in writing. If the staff member leaves the employment of Middlesex- London Health Unit within three years of completing the course, they must repay the amount provided, on a proportionate basis. (a) An employee may apply for time off work for attendance at a University or Technological Institute to take a work-related course of instruction. The application shall be made to the applicable Director and shall contain: (i) a course outline; (ii) a clear description of how the course completion will benefit the Employer; (iii) an indication of how time will be made up without hindering the delivery of service by the Employer. Such time not to be made up on Saturday, Sundays or Holidays. (b) The decision of the Director shall be final. (c) Where a Director approves the time off from work and the employee is unable to make up the time as arranged in Article 25.2(a)(iii) and further mutual arrangements cannot be made, the employee will return to work on their regular schedule.

To be entitled to reimbursement, employees must take courses for a letter grade if such option exists. If a course is offered pass/fail only, the employee will be reimbursed 100% of the amount expended if the employee receives a grade of pass. Two (2) years of additional service with the City is required at the end of completion of each semester; otherwise, the aforesaid tuition reimbursement must be repaid to the City by the employee. The City reserves the right to deduct the same from any payments, including, but not limited to, salary, vacation, and sick leave, owed to the employee at the time of termination of service with the City, irrespective of the reason.
