Teaching Materials. The District recognizes that appropriate teaching materials, library reference facilities, maps and globes, laboratory equipment, audio-visual equipment, art supplies, athletic equipment, current periodicals, standard tests and questionnaires, and similar materials are the tools of the teaching profession. Further, that efforts shall be continued to seek and use textbooks and supplementary reading materials which contain the contribution of minority groups and women to the history, scientific and social development of the United States. The parties will confer from time to time for the purpose of improving the selection and use of such educational tools, and the Board agrees to act on the recommendations made by its representatives and the Association. The District agrees to keep the schools reasonably equipped and maintained.
Teaching Materials. The issue of ownership of teaching materials is especially complex when it involves course content and materials which are a product of academic research, and therefore owned by the faculty member, but the presentation of which is significantly contributed to by non-academic personnel of the university from the Centre of Academic Excellence and Innovation and elsewhere, and is therefore to that extent owned by the university. Accordingly, there is particular need for clear policies and procedures to determine who will share in any benefits resulting from the development and commercialization of such intellectual property. Notwithstanding Policy 1.1, the grant of ownership of copyright in teaching materials to the academic personnel who create these materials is limited. Copyright ownership of teaching materials, the creation of which was significantly contributed to by non- academic personnel, is shared equally by the creator(s) and the university. In the event that such teaching materials are commercialized, the provisions of Article 6 will apply. In addition to the provisions of Policy 1.1, the university's grant of copyright ownership in teaching materials shall be subject to the condition that, to the extent the creator(s) have rights in such teaching materials, they shall grant the university a perpetual, non- exclusive, royalty-free, irrevocable license to copy, use and modify such teaching materials in teaching (including distance and continuing education), research and academic activities within the university. The creator(s) shall waive all moral rights in the teaching materials to the extent necessary to exercise such license rights. The creator(s) may, however, after five years discontinue the university's license in the teaching materials due to the content of the teaching materials becoming out-of-date or being inappropriately used by the university. Evidence of the reasons for discontinuance must be provided by the creator to the Associate Xxxxxxx, Research. If the discontinuance is denied by the Associate Xxxxxxx, Research, the creator has the right to appeal such a denial under the provisions of Article 8. Under special circumstances involving creators' rights to the special and proprietary intellectual content of the teaching materials in question, creators have the right to request exemption of some or all of these teaching materials from this provision. Teaching Materials. A. Teachers in all instructional areas will be provided with approved textbooks and instructional materials for teaching students. The District will confer with teachers from time to time for the purpose of improving selection and use of such educational tools, as well as for the maintenance of uniform District policy with respect to selection and use of these educational tools.
B. Prior to changing a textbook or selecting a new textbook, the teachers affected and/or a committee of such teachers will be given the opportunity to meet and consult with the superintendent or designee regarding the proposed change or selection. Similarly, the Association, if it desires to initiate a change in a textbook or select a new textbook, may notify the administration. Then the Association, through appropriate committees, and the administration will meet at a mutually satisfactory time and place to discuss said matter. The Board's decision will be final.
C. After each teacher has had an opportunity to order supplies and the order is approved by the building principal, it will not be changed or rejected without notification to and consultation with the teacher except in cases of emergency.
Teaching Materials. 17:01 Wherever practical, the University shall provide Assistants with such teaching materials as required for their teaching duties as the Supervisor, in consultation with the AAU Head, shall determine to be necessary.

The Employer agrees to provide the necessary resources to sessional lecturers so they may fulfill their teaching duties effectively and with support equivalent to that provided to faculty. Teaching Materials. A. The College and the Association encourage sharing of individually owned faculty materials for the sake of students and learning. However, faculty members will decide when, how, and in what form their own copyrightable works will be disseminated. Where significant College resources are involved in producing a work (see above), or where there are contractual requirements, the College and the faculty author share ownership of the work and responsibility for the decisions.

The District shall be obligated to provide sufficient basic textbooks to ensure that each pupil in a classroom has textbooks for his/her own use prior to the start of the school year. Teachers may and are encouraged to write grants to supplement resources but are not required to do so in order to receive the necessary materials, textbooks, and resources for his/her classroom which are provided by the District or in the case of textbooks approved by the board.
B. Prior to changing or selecting a new textbook, the teacher or teachers affected will be given the opportunity to meet with the appropriate District School Improvement Team regarding the proposed changes or selections. The Team will examine the text and determine if the text is outdated or inadequate. If, by a 2/3 majority of the members present, the materials are determined outdated or inadequate by the District School Improvement Team, a recommendation regarding replacement(s) will be made to the Board. It will also be a duty of said group to examine and choose replacement materials.
C. After a teacher's supply order is approved by the Superintendent, it will not be changed or rejected without justifiable cause. Teachers involved will be notified as a major change in their order is made, at least 30 days prior to the beginning date of school; order forms will be distributed to the faculty 30 days or earlier preceding the end of the school year.
D. The district recognizes that textbooks alone are not sufficient in the classroom and also guarantee each teacher the following:
1. Sufficient materials to visualize subject being taught.
2. Sufficient materials to provide proper testing.
3. Sufficient materials to grade and record student progress.
a. Requisition forms must be filled out by the requisitioning teacher and signed, then turned over to the Superintendent for approval.
b. The Superintendent will not change or reject without notification and consultation with requesting teacher.
c. After requisitions have been approved by the Superintendent, the Superintendent will endeavor to fill them at once.
E. It shall be the responsibility of the teacher to submit at the close of the school year an inventory of materials, including approved requisitions for the next year.
F. All teachers will practice conservation of materials during the school year.

Where permitted by the division, textbooks and other teaching materials may be selected by bargaining unit members consistent with the resources, objectives, and procedures of the division and the academic program of the College. The respective Academic Xxxx, or his/her designee, must first approve all choices.
