TRADES APPRENTICE PROGRAM. Xxxxxxx Lumber Co. Limited (Sawmill) PURPOSE To implement a program that will develop employees into trades people equipped with necessary tools, who have attained a level of proficiency in manual and technical skills satisfactory to the Trades Apprenticeship Committee. The Company will register one successful candidate per five years in the trades apprentice program. The successful candidate must meet the required criterias. TRADES APPRENTICESHIP COMMITTEE This committee will consist of a maximum of four Local 2010 Union members, the Maintenance Supervisor and three Company members. (Minimum of 2 per group for quorum). Its function is to review, amend and administer the Trades Apprenticeship Program. Equal representation from both sides is required in any decision making process. It will be the Company's responsibility to take necessary action(s) when a trainee is subject to removal from the program but only after discussions with the Trades Apprenticeship Committee has taken place. Based on the Company's needs and assessments, the Committee will recommend to the Company, the number of Trades Apprentices in each trade that will start the program. Apprentices will be registered with the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities immediately upon successful completion of the 3-month probationary period. Successful completion of probationary period will be based on performance evaluation of the following items: - Tool & equipment recognition - Willingness to work overtime - Practical skills CANDIDATES Applications will be received from employees internally throughout the operation or externally if no applications are received or if internal candidate(s) do not meet the required criteria. An Apprenticeship posting will be considered as advancement therefore a promotion. Apprenticeship openings will also be filled in accordance with the provisions of paragraphs I, III and VIII of Article 12.05 only. The successful candidate(s) will be required to meet the following criteria.
