The Joint Apprenticeship Committee clause establishes a governing body composed of representatives from both labor and management to oversee apprenticeship programs. Joint Apprenticeship Committee. A. It is the policy of the State employer and Union to support the establishment of apprenticeship programs in bargaining units where such programs are deemed appropriate. The Union and the State agree that such apprenticeship programs shall be administered in accordance with the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ - ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ Apprentice Labor Standards Act of 1939 (Labor Code section 3070, et seq.) and pursuant to the following provisions:
1. The classification of positions and the selection process shall be governed by the SPB. The State retains the right to hire.
2. A Joint Apprenticeship Committee shall evaluate and discipline any employee participating in an apprenticeship program under the scope of civil service rules and regulations.
3. Apprenticeship programs shall operate under the Joint Apprenticeship Committee concept, i.e., each committee shall contain an equal number of representatives selected by the Union and by the State in addition to an Apprenticeship Consultant of the DIR, Division of Apprenticeship Standards.
4. Each Joint Apprenticeship Committee shall determine the training program for the classes included for their program.
5. Union representatives who have been selected as Joint Apprenticeship Committee members shall serve with no loss of compensation during committee meetings.
B. The State agrees to continue existing apprenticeship programs.
C. The Union and the State agree to jointly explore areas of possible expansion of the existing and the creation of additional apprenticeship programs for bargaining unit occupations. The Union and the State agree to meet and confer on this matter at the request of either party. Any new Joint Apprenticeship Committees shall function in accordance with this section.
D. To enhance the understanding of formal, on-the-job apprenticeship training the State and Union shall request an Apprenticeship Standards Consultant from the DIR, Division of Apprenticeship Standards, to attend any exploratory meeting.
Joint Apprenticeship Committee. 12:01 There is hereby established a Joint Apprenticeship Committee as defined in Article I. This Committee shall be composed of six (6) members, three (3) representing the Company and three (3) employees representing the Union. The chairman shall be the Supervisor of Apprentices and shall be a member of the Committee. The Committee shall meet once a month unless otherwise agreed. It shall be the duty of the Committee:
1. To see that each prospective apprentice is interviewed and impressed with the responsibilities he is about to accept as well as the benefits he will receive.
2. To accept or reject applicants for apprenticeship subject to final approval by the Human Resources Department of the Company as provided in Article II.
3. To hear and decide on questions involving apprentices which relate to their apprenticeship.
4. To determine the scale of credits for previous experience and academic training.
5. To determine whether the apprentice's scheduled wage increase shall be withheld in the event that he is delinquent in his progress.
6. To offer constructive suggestions for the improvement of training on the job.
7. To certify the names of graduate apprentices to the Registration Agencies and recommend that a Certificate of Apprenticeship be awarded upon satisfactory completion of the requirements of apprenticeship established herein. No certificate will be issued by the Registration Agencies unless recommended by the Committee.
8. To review the supervisor's monthly report on each apprentice.
9. In general, to be responsible for the successful operation of the apprenticeship standards in the plant and the successful completion of the apprenticeship by the apprentices under these standards.
Joint Apprenticeship Committee. 30.01 The Parties, Union and Management, agree that a Joint Apprenticeship Committee (J.A.C.) is to be formed. The J.A.C. will be composed of up to three (3) nominees each from Union and Management. Operating Engineer Local 721 and the Operating Engineers Trade Classification of the CLRA are empowered to appoint (and/or remove) nominees to serve on the J.A.C.
30.02 The J.A.C. will hold its first meeting within thirty (30) days of the signing of this Agreement, and thereafter shall meet on a quarterly basis, or as the Committee deems fit.
30.03 The Committee shall recommend appropriate apprentice ratios, and upon thirty (30) days written notice of the Committees recommendations regarding apprentice ratios, those ratios shall be incorporated into this Collective Agreement and shall be enforceable as a term or condition of this Collective Agreement.
30.04 The Committee may also recommend sequences of work experience and/or on-the-job training to ensure a well-rounded and competitive apprenticeship for Operating Engineers.
30.05 Voting power shall, at all meetings of the J.A.C., be equally divided between Union and Management nominees, with three (3) votes being exercised by the Union nominees, and three (3) votes being exercised by the CLRA nominees, each set of three (3) being equally divided amongst the relevant Union or CLRA nominees present at the meeting.
Joint Apprenticeship Committee. (a) For any mutually agreed upon apprenticeship program, BCRTC and CUPE agree to establish a Joint Apprenticeship Committee. Such committee will be comprised of two (2) Union representatives and two (2) Management representatives.
(b) The Company shall further appoint one member to serve as a "Coordinator". The "Coordinator" will be the Safety, Security, Training and Development Manager or a Labour Relations representative. This member will only "vote" on issues when agreement cannot be met by the other four members.
(c) Union members attending committee meetings outside of their scheduled working hours will be paid straight time rates.
Joint Apprenticeship Committee. 27.01 The Joint Apprenticeship Committee shall be composed of one (1) representative of the Company and one (1) representative of the Union. All Apprentices employed under this Agreement shall be registered with the Apprenticeship Committee.
27.02 The functions of this committee shall be to prescribe qualifications necessary for indenture, to establish a schedule of training for each period of apprenticeship and generally to supervise and administer the training and advancement of apprentices within the industry.
27.03 Apprentice Assistants will be drawn by the Company through the Joint Apprenticeship Committee from eligible students attending a school or schools approved by the Joint Apprenticeship Committee. Apprentice Assistants drawn from such approved school or schools will be granted credits toward their period of apprenticeship according to the following schedule: - 4 months’ credit as an apprentice assistant after successful completion of a one year course at such approved schools, - 9 months’ credit as above after two years, - 15 months’ credit as above after three years
27.04 In the event that a suitable Apprentice Assistant is unavailable from an approved school, the Company through the Joint Apprenticeship Committee may obtain Apprentices from any other source, provided that each Apprentice shall comply with the regulations established by the Joint Apprenticeship Committee from time to time.
27.05 In the event that an Apprentice is to apply to a school or college in order to follow their Apprenticeship, they must first notify their Company and obtain permission to do so. If he successfully passes the session, the Company will reimburse the apprentice 50% of such fees. The Apprentice must show proof of fees as well as their successful results.
Joint Apprenticeship Committee. 2.1 The Joint Apprenticeship Committee will be composed of four persons, two members representing CAMI and two members representing the Union. One of the Union members shall always be the elected Skilled Trades representative of the Union Committee. The other Union member of the committee shall be appointed by the Local Union and shall represent a different trade from the Skilled Trade Committeeperson. One of the CAMI representatives will be a Skilled Tradesperson or a person with a trades related background. An apprentice shall also be appointed to sit on the Committee as a non-voting member with the understanding that they should not be privy to any information pertaining to individual apprentices.
2.2 The Joint Apprenticeship Committee shall meet a maximum of once a month or less often as required. CAMI will pay for all such meetings held by the Joint Apprenticeship Committee during the regular shift of the Apprentice Committeeperson.
2.3 The Joint Apprenticeship Committee will have decision making ability with respect to the provisions of this Appendix with the exception of Article
Joint Apprenticeship Committee. The University and the Union have agreed to establish a Joint Labor/Management Apprenticeship Committee (JAC) comprised of three (3) representatives from the University and three (3) representatives from the Union. The JAC shall work to reach agreement on the following:
a. Individual trades classifications that will have apprenticeship programs.
b. Specific on-the-job and classroom training requirements for each apprenticeship.
c. Any other issues deemed necessary by the State Division of Apprenticeship in order to achieve certification of the UCI Trades Apprenticeship program.
Joint Apprenticeship Committee. The Joint Apprenticeship Committee designated herein shall serve for the life of this Agreement, except that vacancies in said Joint Apprenticeship Committee caused by resignation or otherwise, may be filled by either party hereto, and it is hereby mutually agreed by both parties hereto, that they will individually and collectively cooperate to the extent that duly qualified apprentices be given every opportunity to secure proper technical and practical education experience in the trade, under the supervision of the Joint Apprenticeship Committee. The parties will review the needs for specialized and skill-upgrade training and cooperate to establish necessary programs which will then be supervised by the Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee.
Joint Apprenticeship Committee. A. It is the policy of the State employer to support the establishment of apprenticeship programs in Unit 13. IUOE and the State agree that such an apprenticeship program shall be administered in accordance with the following provisions:
1. The classification of positions and the selection process shall be governed and administered by the Department of Personnel Administration and the State Personnel Board.
2. The State retains the right to hire, evaluate and discipline any employee participating in an apprenticeship program, taking under consideration the recommendations of the Joint Apprenticeship Committee.
3. The Apprenticeship program shall operate under the Joint Committee concept. This means that the Committee shall contain an equal number of representatives selected by IUOE, and an equal number selected by the State employer.
4. The Joint Apprenticeship Committee shall oversee the training program for the classes included in the Committee's program.
5. The Joint Apprenticeship Committee shall meet no less than once every three months.
6. IUOE representatives who have been selected as Joint Apprenticeship Committee members shall serve with no loss of compensation during Committee meetings.
7. The State employer reserves the right to cancel an apprenticeship program when such action is deemed to be in the best interest of the State. However, subject to the need to layoff or discipline, any apprentice currently in the program shall be allowed to complete a program. The State employer agrees to give IUOE thirty (30) days notice before cancelling an apprenticeship program.
8. A current State employee presently enrolled in a State sponsored Stationary Engineer Apprenticeship Program who successfully completes that program will be certified by IUOE.
