TRAINING AND EDUCATION LEAVE. 22.01 Where the Employer requires an Employee to take job related courses, the Employer will pay the tuition and provide any necessary materials without cost or loss of salary to the Employee. An Employee may request a job related course and the Employer will consider any such request and respond within two (2) weeks. If such request is approved, the foregoing benefits shall apply. 22.02 To provide an opportunity for an Employee to take advanced or supplementary education that will ensure the organization has qualified Employees to meet its’ current and future goals, the Employer may grant an Educational Leave to qualified applicants in accordance with eligibility requirements established in the Education Leave Policy.

TRAINING AND EDUCATION LEAVE. ‌ 41.01 Full financial assistance in respect of salary, tuition, traveling, and other expenses shall be granted during a short term leave for training purposes: (1) where the employee has become technically obsolete and requires retraining to satisfactorily carry out the work assigned to him; or (2) where the courses are required to keep the employee abreast of new knowledge and techniques in his field of work; or (3) where qualified persons cannot be recruited to carry out essential work and it is necessary to train present employees. 41.02 The Employer will grant full financial assistance for courses of up to four (4) weeks duration and will grant partial financial assistance for courses of a duration of more than for (4) weeks. 41.03 When an employee provides the Employer with evidence that he has successfully completed a course the Employer shall reimburse the employee for tuition fees paid by him with respect to the course if the course is of value to the employees work, does not require him to absent from duty and has the prior approval of the Employer. 41.04 Where a request for leave under Clause 41.01 and 41.02 has been submitted by an employee, the Employer shall, within sixty (60) calendar days from the date of the employee's submission, advise the employee whether his request has been approved or denied. 41.05 When the Employer requires employees to attend training, the training will be offered on an equitable basis to all employees who are required by the Employer to attend the training.

TRAINING AND EDUCATION LEAVE. 43.01 Where the Employer requires an employee to attend training, full financial assistance in respect of salary, tuition, traveling, and other expenses shall be granted during such training. 43.02 If an employee wishes to attend a training course, the employee shall make a request to the Employer. The Employer shall, within sixty (60) days of the date of the request, advise the employee whether the request is approved or denied. 43.03 If the Employer requires an employee to attend training, the employee shall attend the training. 43.04 Where training is required by the Employer for all employees in a position, the training shall be provided to all employees in the position. The Employer may determine that the training may not be offered to all employees in the position at the same time. 43.05 The Employer may, at its sole discretion, approve education leave without pay. 43.06 The Employer may, at its sole discretion, grant an employee on education leave without pay under this article may receive an allowance in lieu of salary of up to one hundred percent (100%) of his/her annual rate of pay as provided in Appendix “A” of this Collective Agreement, depending on the degree to which the educational leave is deemed, by the Employer, to be relevant to organizational requirements. Where the employee receives a grant, bursary or scholarship, the education leave allowance may be reduced. In such cases, the amount of reduction shall not exceed the amount of the grant, bursary or scholarship.
TRAINING AND EDUCATION LEAVE. The union requests disclosure of the employer’s Education Leave Policy and reserves the right to introduce new proposals.

  • Paid Education Leave The Company agrees to pay into a special fund effective January 1st, 2013 and each year thereafter, two thousand ($2,000.00) for the purpose of providing Paid Education Leave. Said Paid Education Leave will be for the purpose of upgrading the Dependent Contractor’s skills in all aspects of trade union functions. Such monies will be paid into a trust fund established by the National Union, Unifor and sent by the Company to the following address: Unifor Education Leave Program c/o Unifor 000 Xxxxxx Xxxxx Xxxxxxx, XX X0X 0X0 The Company further agrees that members of the bargaining unit selected by the Union to attend such courses will be granted a Leave of Absence without pay for twenty (20) days class time, plus travel time where necessary, with said Leave of Absence to be intermittent over a twelve (12) month period from the first day of leave. Dependent Contractors on such leave will continue to accrue seniority and benefits during such leave.

  • Professional and Education Leaves (a) Leave of absence with pay or without pay may be granted to employees to attend professional and educational meetings, courses, or other events which may be judged beneficial to the employee's professional development, especially as it relates to her responsibilities with the Employer.

  • In-Service Education The parties recognize the value of in-service both to the employee and the Employer and shall encourage employees to participate in in-service. All employees scheduled by the Employer to attend in-service seminars shall receive regular wages.

  • TRAINING AND RELATED MATTERS The parties recognise that in order to increase the efficiency and productivity of the company a significant commitment to structured training and skill development is required. Accordingly the parties commit themselves to: a) The parties to this Agreement recognise the importance of the apprenticeship system to the construction industry. It is agreed that every employer party to this Agreement who employs five (5) or more tradespersons in any one classification shall undertake to employ at least one (1) apprentice or make arrangements to host an apprentice from an agreed group apprenticeship scheme. Where an employer does not currently have an apprentice as per this provision, reasonable time shall be allowed to enable the employer to comply with this clause. Further, the parties are committed to a strong ratio of apprentices in the industry. Apprenticeship levels on a specific project may be discussed at the Project Pre-Commencement Conference (refer Clause 16). b) Providing employees with the opportunity to acquire additional skills within relevant career path structures through appropriate structured training based on nationally endorsed (i.e. Construction Training Australia endorsed) competency standards and curriculum; c) Actively encouraging employees to seek formal recognition of their skills (i.e. recognition of prior learning); and d) Using training providers accredited and acceptable to the parties. The CFMEU, MBAV and other employer associations are legitimately engaged in providing training to industry and it is hereby agreed that all parties will properly recognise and accept the validity of nationally accredited training as provided by the other parties. e) The parties will consult on the development of training programs which are consistent with the following: • Training provided will be consistent with the company’s business requirements, relevant to the work of the employees, consistent with the skills development of each employee and with applicable national competency standards. • Training may be taken either on or off the job with all reasonable steps being taken to conduct training in normal working hours. • If an approved training activity is undertaken during ordinary working hours, the employee/s concerned shall not suffer any loss of pay. • Approved training activities undertaken outside of ordinary hours will be paid at single time or will, at the employee’s option, be taken as time off in lieu of payment. Provided that the scheduling of time off must be consistent with the needs of the business and be by agreement with the company. • Training costs of courses approved by the company will be met by the company. • The company will not be asked to meet the costs of training undertaken by employees which was not approved by the company. • Leave of absence granted pursuant to this clause shall count as service for all purposes of the award and this agreement. • Accredited members of the union will be allowed up to 5 days per year, without loss of pay, to attend trade union educational courses conducted or approved by the union. (see appendix H) f) The parties to this Agreement recognise the importance of the role that Apprentices/Trainees fulfill within the industry and, more importantly, a role that they will fulfill as trades persons following the conclusion of the indentures. To this end the Victorian Building Industry Consultative Committee will investigate ways of enhancing employment prospects for Apprentice/Trainees. In addition it is agreed that, where appropriate, employers will use their best endeavours to employ Apprentices/Trainees in order to ensure appropriate trade persons levels for the future.

  • Special Education Teachers Elementary/Secondary Special Education Coordinators shall be compensated for an extended work day in the amount of four thousand dollars ($4,000).
