TRAINING/RETRAINING. (a) Any training/retraining is subject to the provisions under Article 5(e). (b) Any training or re-training must be offered to all full-time employees before being offered to part- time employees (two (2) weeks of initial job function training the exception). (c) The Employer and the Union recognize the value of a well-trained work force in which employees possess the skills necessary to carry out the duties demanded by their job. Employees who have reached the job rate are presumed to have the necessary skill and ability to do that job. Differences in skill and ability, within a particular job classification, will not enter into any lay-off decision.
TRAINING/RETRAINING. Where the employee is required to take a course or learn new technology or methods in their work, the Employer shall pay the registration/tuition fees and all travel and accommodation costs. Where an employee is on the Recall list, the Board shall make available all opportunities for retraining - the Board shall meet with the Federation to discuss opportunities for retraining.
TRAINING/RETRAINING. In the present environment of fast-paced technological developments and structural changes, the parties recognize the benefits in offering to employees training and retraining programs for personal or career development or in the event their existing jobs are displaced. Accordingly, the Company will offer, at Company expense, training and retraining programs to employees for personal or career development and to employees being displaced to qualify for job vacancies as anticipated by the Company. The personal or career development training and the job displacement retraining programs contemplated by this provision will be generic in nature and separate and distinguished from the current job specific training instruction. The Joint Advisory committee will assist and advise in the training efforts encompassed by these programs.
TRAINING/RETRAINING. Employees who do not qualify as Level 1 will be provided educational support designed to enhance their conversational bilingual skills to enable them to successfully pass the assessment. All Employees receiving the existing bilingual differential as of the effective date of the Agreement will maintain the differential during the assessment and training/retraining period, and at least until May 1, 2007.
TRAINING/RETRAINING. The parties agree it is in their mutual interest and in the interest of the construction industry that new employees be trained in the operation of equipment covered by this Agreement. Therefore, in the furtherance of this objective, the parties are signatory to a Trust Agreement in existence by and between the Associated General Contractors of Alaska, and Local 302 of the I.U.O.E. The parties further agree to maintain a formal Apprenticeship Plan for the training of operating engineers for the State of Alaska. The parties of this Agreement agree to participate in and support the Apprenticeship Plan and to abide by its local rules and requirements governing the selection, ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, qualifications, education and training of all apprentices, insofar as said rules and requirements conform to the National Apprentice and Training Standards for the trade of Operating Engineers and to all applicable laws. The Employer shall utilize apprenticeship ratios of a minimum of one (1) apprentice for every ten (10) journeymen; however the requirements of the approved standards are to be applied.
