6.2.2 However, the purchaser reserves the right to demand repetition of some or all the type tests in presence of purchaser's representative. For this purpose, the bidder should indicate unit rates for carrying out such type tests. These test charges shall not be taken into consideration for bid evaluation.
Type Tests. In accordance with the requirements of IEC 60137 plus:-
(a) Puncture Withstand Test - The bushing, immersed in the medium, or media as intended for service shall have a voltage of approximately one third of the test voltage applied to it. The voltage shall be increased to the test voltage as rapidly as is consistent with its value being indicated by the measuring means, provided that the time taken to increase the voltage to the final value is not less than 10 seconds. The final test voltage, which shall be 15% greater than the specified Power Frequency Withstand Voltage shall be sustained only for the time necessary to determine it. Puncture or flashover shall not occur during the test. Bushing which have been subjected to this test shall not thereafter be used in the contract works without special approval. Alternatively, on bushings intended for use with impulse tested apparatus, the test shall be performed by subjecting the bushing under the above conditions to five consecutive impulse voltage waves. The impulse waves shall be of the most onerous polarity and of a value 15% in excess of that specified as the Rated Insulation Level. During this test puncture of the bushing or flashover of insulation immersed in oil or gas shall not occur, but flashover of air ends is permissible.
Type Tests. In accordance with the requirements of IEC 60214. The power frequency withstand voltage test is to be applied between electrically adjacent contacts; the test shall be carried out at half normal service voltage.
Type Tests. One transformer of each type shall be subjected to the following type tests. Impulse-Voltage Withstand Test - One transformer of each outdoor design, rating and voltage ratio shall be tested in accordance with IEC 60076-3: 2000, Clauses 12 and 13. Neutral terminals shall be connected as in service, i.e. neutrals of fully insulated windings shall be left isolated. Approved means shall be provided to prevent voltages in excess of 75% of the design impulse voltage of the associated winding from appearing at the line terminals not under test. Except where modified below at least one terminal of the winding or windings not under test on the same limb as the winding under test shall be solidly earthed. The transformer tank shall be efficiently connected by low impedance copper strip to the impulse generator earth point and the whole well earthed. Arcing horns, if fitted to the transformer bushings, shall be adjusted to the maximum setting permitted by the bushing design or shall be removed. Temperature Rise Test - One transformer of each rating and voltage ratio with is own tank, voltage control apparatus, and cooling apparatus, if any, shall be tested in accordance with the provisions of IEC 60076. Unless otherwise agreed with the Engineer the temperature rise test shall be carried out with the transformer on normal ratio. Capacitance Test - The capacitance between windings and to earth shall be measured by an approved method. Short Circuit Test - When required by the Engineer a full voltage short-circuit test shall be performed on a typical transformer. With the high voltage winding energized at full voltage from a supply source which will maintain this voltage under fault conditions, a short-circuit shall be applied to the low voltage terminals and held for 5 seconds in accordance with the Specification Clause headed "Duty Under Fault Conditions". It shall be demonstrated that the transformer has sustained no damage as a result of this test. A separate price for this test shall be entered in Schedule 'J2'. Noise Level Test - Noise levels shall be measured with the transformer on no load at normal voltage and frequency. Where a transformer has more than one rating, measurements shall be repeated with the cooling system corresponding to each rating in operation. All readings shall be made at the "A" weighting using a precision sound level meter conforming to IEC.61672. The calibration of this instrument shall be verified before and after the tests. Type Tests. Type tests shall be conducted at Contractor’s or Subcontractors’ sites, unless another site is previously approved in writing by Authority. Contractor shall provide type test certificates certifying that Contractor followed the procedures reviewed and responded to by Authority as part of its review of the Testing and Commissioning Program. The type test certificates shall be provided before the production equipment is shipped, and detailed test reports submitted before the equipment will be allowed to enter the Test Track. In addition, Authority may, at its sole discretion, perform a FACI of the first or second production unit of each major system or subsystem.
Type Tests. Type tests shall be in accordance with the relevant IEC Recommendation or other applicable standard. Tests shall also be carried out to prove composite relay systems, e.g. differential relays in respect of stability, sensitivity, operating time, settings and setting ranges under all fault conditions. These shall be performed in a manner to simulate working conditions as closely as possible utilizing equipment assembled as in service and including resistance not less in value of any external leads associated with the equipment as connected at site.
Type Tests. Type tests shall be performed and submitted by the successful Respondent(s) when changes are made to either the transformer design, manufacturing process, component(s) or raw material. The type tests for temperature rise, BIL, RN, sound level and short circuit shall be carried out on representative unit(s) on order when requested by Toronto Hydro unless Certified Test Reports are made available from other units whose equivalence with regard to the required tests are acceptable to Toronto Hydro. The successful Respondent(s) must submit such Certified Test Reports for approval prior by Toronto Hydro upon Toronto Hydro’s initial order of the transformer. Respondents shall include in their Proposal, in addition to unit prices, the cost for performing each of the type tests noted should the Certified Type Test results, based on similar units, prove unacceptable to Toronto Hydro.
Type Tests. (a) Vacuum Tests - One transformer tank of each size shall be subjected when empty of oil to a vacuum of 70 kN/m2 below atmospheric pressure. The permanent deflection of flat plates after the vacuum has been released shall not exceed the value specified below.
