UNIFOR Paid Education Leave (PEL. The Employer agrees to pay into a special fund, two cents ($0.02) per hour per employee for all compensated hours for the purpose of providing paid education leave. Such leave will be for upgrading the employee’s skills in all aspects of trade union functions. Such monies to be paid on a quarterly basis into a trust fund established by the National Union, UNIFOR, effective from date of ratification, and sent by the Employer to the following address: UNIFOR, 000 Xxxxxx Xxxxx, Xxxxxxx, Xxxxxxx X0X 0X0, Attention: PEL Cheques payable to UNIFOR Leadership Training Fund. The Employer further agrees that members of the bargaining unit selected by the Union to attend such courses will be granted a leave of absence without pay for twenty (20) days class time, plus travel time where necessary. Employees on such leave of absence will continue to accrue seniority and benefits during such leave. The Union will reimburse the Employer for the cost of such benefits to the Employer during the period of the leave. The leaves will be granted subject only if they do not unduly interfere with the operation of the workplace.

UNIFOR Paid Education Leave (PEL. Program The University will agree to pay into a special fund as defined at an amount of three cents ($0.03) per hour for all compensated hours worked to provide for a Unifor Paid Education Leave (PEL) Program. Such payment will be remitted on a quarterly basis, effective as of the date of ratification, into a trust established by the Unifor National Union. Payments will be sent by the University to the following address: Unifor Paid Education Leave Program 000 Xxxxxx Xxxxx Xxxxxxx, Xxxxxxx X0X 0X0 Approval of such leave will be subject to operational requirements which will not be unreasonably denied at the request of the Union. Approved time for the purposes of PEL will be reimbursed in accordance with Article 17.10 of the Collective Agreement. Candidates for PEL shall be selected by the Union to attend. The Union will provide written confirmation to the employer of such selection. Employees on PEL leave of absence will continue to accrue seniority and service.

  • Paid Educational Leave a. An employee may request special paid leave at straight-time hourly rate which may be granted employees for educational purposes which will benefit the State by adding to or strengthening employee skills or knowledge and to allow employees to attend approved conferences, professional meetings and workshops.

  • Unpaid Educational Leave After one (1) year of continuous employment, permission shall be granted for leave of absence for a maximum of one (1) year without pay for study, without loss of accrued benefits.

  • Employment Relations Education Leave 26.1 The Employer shall grant leave on pay for employees party to this MECA to attend courses authorised by NZNO to facilitate the employee’s education and training as employee representatives in the workplace.   • Education Leave (a) If required by the Employer, an employee shall be entitled to leave of absence with pay and without loss of seniority and benefits to write examinations to upgrade his or her employment qualifications.

  • Maternity/Paternity/Adoption Leave An Employee who is expecting the birth or adoption of a child shall be entitled to maternity/paternity/adoption leave without pay, provided she presents a medical certificate confirming the probable date of confinement, or in the case of adoption, gives the Employer notice of eligibility. Except in extenuating circumstances, the notice shall be submitted in writing at least twenty-eight (28) days in advance of the leave and shall specify the probable date of commencement and the anticipated length of leave. The following conditions shall apply:

  • CULTURAL LEAVE FOR ABORIGINAL EMPLOYEES The Superintendent of Schools or their designate, may grant five (5) paid days per year leave with seven (7) days written notice from the employee to participate in Aboriginal Cultural event(s). Such leave shall not be unreasonably denied.

  • Maternity/Adoption Leave An employee who is pregnant and who has three (3) months or more of continuous service with the Company shall be granted leave of absence under the terms and conditions of the Employment Standards Act except as herein otherwise provided:

  • Employee Education (A) At the discretion of the Agency Head or designee, the state may allow employees to attend short courses, institutes, and workshops which will improve their performance in their current position, without a loss of pay and benefits.

  • Personnel Selection Leave 35.6.1 Where an employee participates in a personnel selection process for a position in the Public Service, as defined in the Financial Administration Act, the Council shall grant leave of absence with pay for the period during which the employee's presence is required for purposes of the selection process, and for such further period as the Council considers reasonable for the employee to travel to and from the place where his presence is so required.
