UNION REPRESENTATION AND SAFETY. 8.01 The Union shall submit the name of the Chief Xxxxxxx and Union Stewards to the Company in writing. 8.02 The parties agree to have quarterly labour relations meetings on Company time, if necessary. The necessity for such meeting shall be identified by either party submitting an agenda of matters to be discussed. The General Chairperson of District 140 may be present at the meeting with the Company. 8.03 The Union shall designate and the Company shall recognize a Chief Xxxxxxx and a Xxxxxxx. The Union shall also designate Alternate Stewards and the Company will recognize the Alternate Stewards in the absence of regular Stewards. The Union will endeavour to appoint employees who are on different shifts as its stewards so that a xxxxxxx is available to assist employees when required. The Company shall be kept informed of the name of each Union Xxxxxxx and the shift for which he has responsibility. The parties agree to increase the number of Stewards in the event the Company substantially increases the current number of employees. 8.04 The Company recognizes that the necessity for performance by a Xxxxxxx of the functions described in Article 9 hereof for settlement of a complaint or grievance which can commonly arise during his regularly scheduled working hours and agrees that, as reasonably permitted by the operational requirements of the company, he shall be permitted the necessary time off without loss of pay to perform such functions. Before leaving his regular Company duties to attend to such matters, the Xxxxxxx shall obtain permission of his immediate Supervisor, such permission will not to be unreasonably withheld. He shall report to the Supervisor when resuming his regular duties.

In the event that a Shop Xxxxxxx is required and there are no scheduled Shop Stewards on shift, the Company will contact the Chief Shop Xxxxxxx. The Chief Shop Xxxxxxx will be required to attend and if unable he will coordinate a Shop Xxxxxxx to attend. The Shop Xxxxxxx will receive a four (4) hour call- out upon the Company’s request. 8.02 Matters pertaining to the interpretation, application, or administration of this Agreement shall be discussed and adjusted by the Company and the Shop Committee who shall meet during working hours as often as may be deemed necessary indicating the necessity for such meeting by (a) The Union may designate and the Company shall recognize Shop Stewards, Senior Stewards and Chief Stewards for such work areas as shall be agreed by the parties hereto to be reasonable and proper. The Company shall be kept informed of the name of each Shop Xxxxxxx, Senior Xxxxxxx, and Chief Xxxxxxx and the work area the Union has so designated him. (b) The Company and Union agree to establish a Health and Safety Committee consisting of three (3) Union Members plus the Chief Shop Xxxxxxx (who will act as the Union Co-Chair) and not less than two (2) Management Members and abide by the Canada Labour Code in all matters pertaining to health and safety.   • UNION REPRESENTATION 5.01 The Local Union may appoint or otherwise select a bargaining committee which shall be composed of not more than seven (7) employees one of whom will be designated as an alternate, and one of whom shall be employed in maintenance. Such committee, together with representatives of the Union shall represent the Union in all negotiations with representatives of the Board for a renewal of this Agreement. The local union shall notify the Board in writing of the names of its bargaining committee members prior to the start of negotiations. 5.02 The Local Union may also appoint or otherwise select up to seven (7) stewards one of whom will be selected as the Chief Xxxxxxx. One of such stewards shall be designated to represent the employees engaged in caretaking in each Field Service Area of the Board, and one of such stewards shall be designated to represent those engaged in maintenance, courier, and warehousing services. In the absence of the designated stewards one of the other stewards may act in their place. The Local Union's Chief Xxxxxxx shall co-ordinate the activities of such stewards. 5.03 A xxxxxxx'x function shall be to assist an employee in the preparation and presentation of grievances to the employee's supervisor and in the event of any violation of Article 4 by any employees to instruct them to return to work and perform their usual duties. A xxxxxxx, with the prior permission of the xxxxxxx'x immediate supervisor, shall be reasonably allowed such time off as is necessary for the prompt investigation and settlement of grievances. The Board will compensate stewards and Union officers for any portion of their regularly scheduled work time spent with the permission of the Board in servicing grievances. The Board may revoke this compensation if it reasonably believes that the time off for servicing grievances is being abused. 5.04 Members of the bargaining committee shall suffer no loss in pay for any portion of their regularly scheduled work time spent in attending negotiations with the Board. 5.05 The Local Union shall notify the Board in writing of the names of its officers, Chief Xxxxxxx and stewards. 5.06 The President of the Local union shall be supplied a copy of Board Corporate Services and Human Resources Committee meeting agendas and Regular Board meeting agendas, 48 hours prior to the meeting/s.
