Vacations to Coincide with Days Off. A. Each employee will be sent a vacation bid request form and will select a “minimum” of four (4) calendar weeks of available vacation leave during the first work period of January through the last work period of December, consistent with the vessel work cycles. Vacation segments may be selected to begin or end with the employee’s regular days off or free days, except in cases of ten (10) day or nine (9) day watches. In these instances, the vacation segment must begin or end with the employee’s days off. However, if an employee working on a nine (9) or ten (10) day watch desires to take two (2) consecutive bid vacation weeks between their scheduled days off, they will have the option to push their vacation back or forward so their vacation aligns with their scheduled nine (9) or ten (10) day work weeks. This, allows them to have their scheduled days off before and after bid vacation blocks. The employee shall inform the employer a minimum of thirty (30) days prior to the first day of their scheduled days off. In the event that the employee’s vacation is scheduled within thirty (30) days of a new schedule/season, or a new job assignment, the employee shall notify dispatch prior to Version 1 of the desired bid vacation being released (Saturday of Week One of any work cycle). B. Deck Officers may choose to schedule their four (4) calendar weeks’ vacation segments to coincide with their free days, their scheduled days off as per Section A of this Rule, or from Sunday to Saturday of the week selected, provided no less than forty (40) hours of vacation leave is used, unless the employee’s scheduled hours on the vacation days off total less than forty (40) hours. C. Deck Officers with approved vacation who wishes to begin and end their vacation to coincide with the seven (7) day vacation segment selected, must inform dispatch a minimum of thirty (30) days prior to that work cycle. If a Deck Officer bids onto a new watch at any time during the year and is unable to provide the thirty (30) days’ notice, they must inform Dispatch as early as possible if they choose to request their vacation to begin on Sunday and end on Saturday for the week selected. Vacation segments shall be selected concurrent with the employee’s regular days off or free days, except in cases of ten (10) day or nine (9) day watches. In these instances, the vacation segment must begin or end with the employee’s days off. B. Reliefs may choose to schedule their four (4) calendar weeks’ vacation segments to coincide with their free days or from Sunday to Saturday of the week selected. C. Any employee whose work schedule has changed affecting their previously scheduled and approved vacation who wishes to begin and end their vacation to coincide with the seven (7) day vacation segment selected, must inform dispatch a minimum of thirty (30) days prior to that work cycle. However, the same number of vacation leave hours must be taken as reflected in the original bid. D. Relief Masters shall notify the Dispatch Coordinator if they would like: 1. The first two (2) days off prior to the commencement of their assigned two (2) week vacation; or 2. The two (2) days off following their assigned two (2) week vacation. E. A Relief Master shall notify the Dispatch Coordinator if they would like to move: 1. Their assigned two (2) free days to be prior to the commencement of their assigned one (1) week vacation; or 2. The two (2) days following their assigned one (1) week vacation. F. Notification shall be made thirty (30) days or more in advance of the work period in which their vacation shall begin. If such notification is not made thirty (30) days or more in advance, Regular Relief and Relief Master shall have their two (2) days off assigned.

Any LDO whose work schedule has changed affecting their previously scheduled and approved vacation, and the LDO still wishes to begin and end their vacation to coincide exclusively with the seven (7) day vacation segment selected, must inform dispatch a minimum of thirty (30) days prior to that work cycle. However, the same number of vacation hours must be taken as reflected in the original bid.

  • Entitlement to Vacation Leave With Pay An employee is entitled to vacation leave with pay to the extent of his earned credits but an employee who has completed six (6) months of continuous employment may receive an advance of credits equivalent to the anticipated credits for the vacation year.

  • VACATION LEAVE WITH PAY 14.01 The vacation year shall be from April 1st of one calendar year to March 31st of the following calendar year inclusive.

  • SICK LEAVE WITH PAY Sick leave with pay for employees shall be determined in the following manner:

  • Compensation for Holidays Falling Within Vacation Schedule If a paid holiday falls on or is observed during an Employee's vacation period, she shall be allowed an additional vacation day with pay at a time mutually agreed upon by the Employer and the Employee.

  • Examination Leave With Pay At the Employer's discretion, examination leave with pay may be granted to an employee for the purpose of writing an examination which takes place during the employee's scheduled hours of work. Such leave will only be granted where, in the opinion of the Employer, the course of study is directly related to the employee's duties or will improve his or her qualifications.

  • Leave With Pay Compassionate leave of absence with pay shall be granted for three (3) work days. Up to two (2) additional days with pay shall be granted for travelling time when this is warranted in the judgement of the Employer.

  • Other Leave With Pay The Employer may grant leave with pay for purposes other than those specified in this Agreement, including military or civil defence training, and emergencies affecting the community or place of work.

  • Reinstatement of Vacation Days - Sick Leave In the event an employee is sick or injured prior to the commencement of his/her vacation, such employee shall be granted sick leave and the vacation period so displaced shall be added to the vacation period if requested by the employee and by mutual agreement, or shall be reinstated for use at a later date.

  • Court Leave With Pay The Company shall grant leave with pay to an employee for the period of time he or she is required: (a) to be available for jury selection; (b) to serve on a jury; or (c) by subpoena or summons to attend as a witness in any proceeding to which he or she is not a party held: (i) in or under the authority of a court of justice or before a grand jury; (ii) before a court, judge, justice, magistrate or coroner; (iii) before the Senate or House of Commons of Canada, or a committee of the Senate or House of Commons, otherwise than in the performance of the duties of his or her position; (iv) before a legislative council, legislative assembly or house of assembly, or any committee thereof that is authorized by law to compel the attendance of witnesses before it; (v) before an arbitrator or umpire or a person or body of persons authorized by law to make an inquiry and to compel the attendance of witnesses before it, other than an arbitrator appointed under this Collective Agreement or the Canada Industrial Relations Board.

  • Holiday Coinciding with a Day of Vacation Where an employee is on vacation leave and a day of paid holiday falls within that period, the paid holiday shall not count as a day of vacation.
