Wage Schedule Administration. Wages shall be paid in steps commensurate with service, advancing in step on anniversary dates. Anniversary date, for purposes of wage step increase, is determined as the date of original employment in the Fire Department, or if applicable, any re-employment date following a resignation. Steps in wage rate schedules, as contained in this article, are as follows: Zero to One Year 1st Step Five to Ten Years 6th Step One to Two Years 2nd Step Ten to Fifteen Years 7th Step Two to Three Years 3rd Step Fifteen to Twenty Years 8th Step Three to Four Years 4th Step Twenty Years or More 9th Step Four to Five Years 5th Step Employees shall advance a step upon completion of each year of service based upon his anniversary date of hire as a Firefighter/EMT-P or EMT-B or promotion into the applicable rank.

Wage Schedule Administration. Employees who are promoted shall be placed on the schedule at the lowest step for the new classification which gives them a minimum increase in pay in their base rate of at least five percent (5%) in addition to any longevity to which they may be entitled. If this places the employee at the starting rate, the employee shall be placed at the EOP rate upon completion of probation. The next increase shall be given based on years of full-time service within the applicable classifications. Pension Pickup. Wages shall be paid bi-weekly, via direct deposit, every other Friday. When a holiday falls on a Friday, employees shall be paid on the preceding Thursday. When a pair of holidays falls on both a Thursday and Friday, employees shall be paid on the preceding Wednesday. Such wage compensation shall include payments previously termed "longevity" and shall include payments for pension pickup as currently pay rolled for all bargaining unit members.

Wage Schedule Administration. New employees hired after the execution of this contract shall generally be placed on the wage schedule at the established base rate for the applicable range or at a service credit base rate granted in accordance with the provisions below. Where the Executive Director determines that beneficial experience exists, a newly hired employee may be placed at a service credit base rate computed based upon a three percent (3.0%) increment for each year of service credit granted, not to exceed seven [7] years of credit. However, based on the employee’s qualifications and prior experience, the Employer at its discretion may place a newly hired employee up to the mid-point of the pay range for the employee’s position, whichever is greater. Any employee who reaches the top range of the wage schedule shall still be eligible to receive lump sum merit payments pursuant to Section 5. Additionally, in order to ensure adequate movement through the applicable pay ranges, the parties agree to the following administration of the pay scale, based upon an employee holding the same classification with the Lorain County Children’s Services:
