Work Boots. Employer shall provide up to one hundred dollars ($100) per year reimbursement upon receipt for the cost of protective work boots for part-time employees, one hundred and twenty five dollars ($125) for full-time employees requiring boots under Worksafe BC. The allotted amount per year for employees is applied to one pair of boots per calendar year. Work boots which are destroyed in the course of duties shall be replaced at the Employer's expense. If an employee does not purchase a pair of boots in a calendar year, they can carry over the boot allowance to the following calendar year and may purchase up to two pairs of boots.

Work Boots. Boot Allowance: The Employer, on an annual basis, shall reimburse a maximum of one hundred eighty-five ($185) for one pair of steel toed and shanked footwear where safety footwear is a requirement under Workers Compensation Board Statutes. In work areas deemed to be harsh, as determined by the management supervisor and approved, the Employer agrees to reimburse the cost of up to two (2) pairs of safety footwear each at a maximum cost of one hundred eighty- five dollars ($185). In the Utilities work areas, the Employer agrees to provide one (1) pair of rubber safety boots every two (2) years. All requests for re-imbursement must be accompanied by a valid receipt. In the event an Employee spends more than $185 for steel toed and shanked footwear, the amount in excess of $185 will be carried forward and will be reimbursed in the next year to a maximum of $185. In no event will the Employer be required to reimburse an Employee more than $185 annually for a boot allowance.

Work Boots. The City contributes $240 per employee per year toward the purchase of a pair of work boots. The contribution shall be used towards the purchase of a pair of work boots, appropriate to each employee's assignment and responsibility (i.e., steel toed boot vs. basic boot), as determined by the Director of Community Services. Said contribution will be in the form of a voucher to be used at one of three vendors selected by the Association. If the cost of a pair of work boots is less than the total amount of the boot voucher, the employee may use any remaining amount towards the purchase of boot dressing, shoe laces, socks and related items. Employees may instead elect to request two vouchers per year each in the amount equal to one-half of the annual contribution. Employees may then purchase two less expensive pairs of boots each year. If an employee chooses the option of a voucher, a minimum of five (5) months must pass before that employee is eligible for the second voucher. If the boot purchase is less than the voucher amount, the employee may use the remaining amount as stated above. It will be the employee's responsibility to keep the boots clean and in good repair. It is further the employee’s responsibility to wear his/her work boots at all times in the performance of his/her duties. Vendor selection and voucher system arrangements will be the responsibility of the Community Services Department. The voucher(s) will be issued on or before August 1 of each year. Employees who elect to purchase boots within sixty (60) days of their effective date of termination shall have the cost of the boots deducted from their final paycheck.

A corresponding receipt and signed claims voucher must be submitted to the employee’s Department Head for approval before submission of the claim to the Comptroller for processing. A seasonal full-time employee, seasonal part-time employee, or supplemental employee who is required to wear safety-toed work boots is also eligible for the boot allowance.
