Rest Between Shifts. It is intended that every employee should have eight (8) hours' rest between shifts. In the event that an employee is recalled to work before such eight (8) full hours elapse, he shall be paid the appropriate overtime rates for work performed after recall. No employee shall be permitted to resume work on his own accord until eight (8) full hours have elapsed.
Rest Between Shifts. Effective October 5, 2002, in scheduling work assignments, the Employer will make a good faith effort to provide each employee with at least twelve (12) hours off duty between shifts. In the event an employee is required to work with less than twelve (12) hours off duty between shifts, all time worked within this twelve (12) hour period shall be at time and one-half (1-1/2). This section shall not apply to standby and callback assignments performed pursuant to Article 9.

Nurses who are called back to work, whether or not the nurse was on standby, will qualify for rest between shift premium if the work performed from standby or call back results in the nurse not receiving twelve (12) hours unbroken rest (10-1/2 hours if the nurse is a twelve (12) hour shift nurse) before the start of the nurse's next regularly scheduled shift.
