Familiarization Period. It is understood that the College is not required to train an employee for a position into which he/she may be assigned pursuant to Article 15.4.3, but the College shall provide a reasonable period of familiarization where necessary.

Familiarization Period. In circumstances where the employer indicates that a nurse selected for a posted vacancy or promoted in accordance with article 10.06 (c) does not meet the requirements to satisfactorily perform the duties of her new position during or following completion of the unit’s orientation program or subject to any agreed to upon extension by the parties will meet within seven calendar days to identify and implement a satisfactory resolution.
Familiarization Period. E3.01 Employees who are the successful candidate for a new or vacant position filled in accordance with the job posting procedures set out in paragraph E2.07 to E2.12 of Article E-2 shall be required to undergo a familiarization period of 490 straight time hours to a maximum of three calendar months. E3.02 During the familiarization period, the employee will be provided with orientation, training and guidance to ensure that duties and performance standards are understood. E3.03 The familiarization period may be extended, at the option of the Employer, where there are reasonable grounds to presume that the employee has not been provided with a reasonable opportunity to meet performance standards. The Employer will advise the local representative in writing of any extension to an employee's familiarization period. E3.04 At any time during the familiarization period, an employee may return to her former position on a voluntary basis or be returned by the Employer when it becomes evident that the employee cannot meet performance standards. Any other employees who moved to new positions subsequent to and as a result of the original appointment will also be returned to their former positions.
Familiarization Period. Employees promoted to a higher position through job posting shall be allowed a familiarization period up to ninety (90) working days. Should it be determined at the end of the familiarization period that they do not possess the necessary ability to perform the job, they shall be returned to their former position or one of equal rank and shall be paid their former salary plus any service increment they may have become entitled to had they not been promoted. This decision is subject to the grievance procedure.

Familiarization Period. An employee within the Bargaining Unit who has successfully applied for a position which has been posted, shall be given up to three (3) months familiarization period to demonstrate his ability and efficiency and if the employee or the Corporation finds he is unable to perform the duties of the classification, he shall be returned to his former position without loss of seniority. Any other employee promoted or transferred because of rearrangement of positions shall also be returned to his former position, wage or salary rate without loss of seniority. Any employee determined to be competent may be confirmed in the position prior to the end of the third month of the familiarization period.

Familiarization Period. (a) Upon assignment the employee shall be granted a familiarization period of a maximum of forty-five (45) days actually worked during which period the employee may return, or be returned by NAV CANADA to their former position. (b) During the forty-five (45) day familiarization period, if the position requires relocation under the NAV CANADA Travel Program and Relocation Program, the employee shall be on travel status as provided for in the Program. No relocation expenses shall be paid during this period unless mutually agreed otherwise. In this latter case, the return rights shall be extinguished.

The employer will endeavour to schedule half-time positions so that half-time employees will have access to an additional half-time position. 17:08 a) A member who is absent from work who is on sick leave, is claiming Workers' Safety Insurance Board (WSIB) or Long Term disability(LTD) benefits shall retain the position held by the Member immediately prior to the absence up to a maximum of twenty-four (24) months.
