Alternative Education. 6.16.1 Alternate and Adult Education Teachers who teach in regular classes are to be paid in accordance with 6.01. Teachers in Section 19 locations shall be paid in accordance with the funding received by the Board for the program.
Alternative Education. 25.01 Alternative Education includes credit programs delivered to students in the Alternative Education School(s) of the Employer. A qualified Teacher who is a member of the Bargaining Unit shall deliver these programs. Alternative Education includes mixed classes of students who are over or under 21 years of age.
Alternative Education. While unique considerations for alternative education staff are listed below, any of the relevant considerations in 8.2.2 may also be included in discussions with alternative education staff and their supervisor regarding class composition.
Alternative Education. The hourly rate of pay for alternative education employees shall be as set forth in Schedule A1.
Alternative Education. Each hourly Alternative Education teacher shall be granted one hour sick leave per 15 hours worked. In the section on Use of Sick Leave (A.2.), wherever the word “days” is used, the leave will be considered to be in hours. One day is equal to seven (7) hours for hourly Alternative Education employees.
Alternative Education. Students who are expelled may be provided an alternative education program that will enable the student to continue academic work for credit toward graduation. In the event an alternative education program is not provided, a conference will be held with the parent, student, the Principal or another school representative assigned by the Principal, and a representative of a community organization that assists young people or that is involved with juvenile justice to develop a plan for the student in accordance with law.
Alternative Education. 1. The workday for Alternative Education teachers will be seven (7) hours and five (5) minutes, including lunch. Lunch time shall consist of at least a thirty (30) minute duty-free period. The time involved while his/her pupils are scheduled to receive instruction from another teacher will be used for conference and preparation purposes.

The following provisions will not apply to the extent indicated to the Alternative Education program: Article VII, Section 4 a and b -- Added classes provisions Article IX, Section 2 c and d -- Schedule issues for grades 7-12 * Article X -- Teaching assignments provisions Article XI, Section 5 -- Preparations * Article XII -- Vacancies Article XIII, Sections 2 and 3 -- Bumping and recall procedures
3. After consultation with Alternative Education teachers, the Administration shall make the final determination in establishing teacher class schedules and in filling vacancies.
4. In the event it becomes necessary to layoff or recall fulltime Alternative Education teachers within the Alternative Education program, the following criteria will be taken into consideration:
a. any mandates under the Michigan Teacher Tenure Act
b. the endorsements listed on the teaching certificates and the corresponding subject areas taught
c. the subject areas taught under the State of Michigan Guidelines for Alternative Education Programs for which a teacher has no certificate endorsement and d. seniority. * Delete effective with the start of the 2010-2011 collective bargaining agreement.
Alternative Education. Alternative education is offered on case-by-case basis by request through a Prevention Education Manager. Accommodation can be made for specific reasons as approved by the Prevention Education Managers. There will not be opportunities for group exemptions.
Alternative Education. 1. The District’s use of subcontracted alternative programs shall not be used to displace bargaining unit positions.
2. The employee’s workload shall not be increased beyond de minimus impact due to the District’s use of subcontracted alternative education programs, unless:
a) Other duties are reduced proportionately, or
b) The District and the employee agree to an extended duty contract, or
c) Other alternatives are agreed to which are mutually acceptable to the teacher(s), the District and the Association.
Alternative Education.
5.1 Definition:
A. Alternative education provides methods of adapting educational programs to meet the individual needs of students and at the same time providing a vehicle for examining new ways of learning in a changing society. For the purpose of this Agreement, Alternative Education includes those schools and services described below in section 5.2.
B. Prior to implementation of any services, program, or position of Alternative Education that requires a deviation from the Collective Bargaining Agreement and upon the demand to bargain by the Association, the parties agree to meet and negotiate as soon as possible on the impacts and effects of the terms and conditions of employment of unit members serving in Alternative Education schools or services not currently referred to in this Agreement.
5.2 Alternative schools and services referred to specifically in this article are:
A. Palomar High School
B. Options Secondary School and Associated Programs
C. Learning Centers
D. Community Day School
E. Individualized Instruction Teacher/Independent Study Services
F. Home Hospital Education G. Teen Parent Education H. Alta Vista Academy
