Class Composition. All students in a class offered through College Credit Plus at The District must qualify for and be enrolled through College Credit Plus.
Class Composition. Non-severely handicapped (NSH) students shall be placed through the IEP process in classes with peers of comparable abilities and educational objectives whenever possible.
Class Composition. When determining class lists, building principals will take into consideration the effect of student needs on class size. The type of adaptations needed to meet the individualized learning needs of recognized student populations (IEP, 504, and ELL, but excluding gifted) will be important factors when determining class assignments. In an effort to balance student needs with high quality instructional practices and research, class assignments will be formulated with a goal of including these recognized student populations (IEP, 504, and ELL) up to 33% of the total class list. 504 students referred to in this section are only those who have an educational component in their 504 plan.
A. For the duration of this Agreement, a joint Administration/Association Class Composition Committee shall be established. Co-Chairpersons of the Class Composition Committee shall be the Association President/designee and the Superintendent/designee. In addition, the Association President/designee shall appoint four (4) members to the Committee. The Superintendent/ designee shall also appoint four (4) members. The Class Composition Committee shall:
1. Review the class composition data to analyze class composition in accordance with this section.
2. Determine underlying factors contributing to successfully achieving or failing to achieve the class composition goal.
3. Develop and provide recommendations for strategies designed to meet the class composition goal or to further the educational and developmental needs of students.
4. Provide timely recommendations, strategies, or solutions to the Superintendent for his/her consideration, as applicable.
5. Convene as often as necessary as determined by at least one of the Co- Chairpersons to achieve the committee requirements outlined herein.
6. Each of the Co-Chairpersons may invite additional participants to any committee meeting as necessary to provide information to the committee.
7. Maintain meeting minutes to distribute via email to all unit members and administrators to provide for increased communication and awareness District-wide.
B. PLEA appointed members shall be eligible for committee rate of pay for participating outside of the contractual work day.
Class Composition. Both parties understand that class composition, the number of students a teacher is assigned per period or per semester, and the school facilities have an impact on the quality of education provided for the involved students and the workload of the teacher. As such, any teacher who feels her/his class is too large and/or the instructional space is inadequate, or has a child (children) with extraordinary educational needs, so affected may arrange a meeting with the principal, and failing resolution, may arrange a meeting with the principal and the superintendent to discuss alternative solutions, or any other issue deemed important to the parties. Failing resolution, the Union may present the issue to the Board of Education.
Class Composition a. No more than three (3) special needs students shall be integrated at the same time in a regular classroom.
b. Classes with three (3) special need students shall have their class size maximum reduced by two (2).
Class Composition. The Board and the Association recognize that the composition of a class may seriously affect normal expectations for student learning.
Class Composition. The administration will make all reasonable efforts to assign students to general education classes so that no more than thirty five percent (35%) of any class will be made up of students on 504 plans or IEPs. When more than thirty-five percent (35%) of students on IEPs or 504 plans are assigned to any general class, the assigned teacher shall notify the principal. Thereafter, the teacher, administrator, and case manager shall meet and discuss how to provide support to the educational team so that the needs of the students in the class are met.
Class Composition. State Law states that dual credit courses may be composed of dual credit students only or dual and college credit students. Exceptions for a mixed class, which would also include high school credit-only students, may be allowed only according to one of the following conditions:
Class Composition. 1. If, after consultation/involvement with school and/or District specialist staff, the teacher determines that there are students in his/her class who significantly affect classroom management, routines or instruction, he/she may refer such students to the School Based Team for consideration and appropriate action.
2. The School Based Team, together with the classroom teacher, shall meet to consider the referral.
3. The School Based Team may take appropriate action for the circumstances. Such actions may include but not be limited to:
(a) adjustment to the student's program;(c) alternate placement;
(b) further assessment;
(c) alternate placement;
(d) consideration of alternate teaching strategies;
(e) release time for the enrolling teacher and other school based personnel as may be required to facilitate ongoing assessment and consultation;
(f) other assistance as agreed to by the enrolling teacher.
4. If additional teacher assistant time is required to carry out the recommendations made under 3, the Superintendent or designate shall, within two weeks of receiving the recommendations, inform the school based team of the actions to be taken regarding their recommendations.
5. If the Superintendent or designate decides that alternate placement is required, then the school based team shall be informed immediately.
Class Composition. A. To provide special support, a paraeducator will be employed for each of the three (3) middle schools for assignment by the site councils. Such instructional aide will work four (4) hours per day for 180 days.
B. The District and the Association recognize that class and workload composition are important factors for an optimum learning environment. Therefore, when an Employee has concerns with the composition of their class or workload, they shall explain the situation through appropriate administrative channels.
1) If/when a classroom teacher identifies a concern about class composition, the teacher should request a meeting with an administrator. The meeting will occur within five work days of the request. The administrator and the teacher will consider possible building options. If building resources are available, the resolution should be in place within ten (10) work days.
2) If building resources are not available, or if the teacher is not satisfied with the options developed, then the teacher may fill out a Class Composition Support Request Form and submit it to the principal. The principal will then submit this form within two (2) work days to the principal supervisor, Association President, and Human Resources (or designees).
3) The District and the Association will review and seek to resolve within ten (10) work days of the receipt of the form.
4) The District and Association recognize that all certificated Employees have the right to appeal decisions through these channels, and, ultimately to the Superintendent using Section 12.5.
5) The Class Composition Form will be shared with building staffs at the beginning and middle of the school year.
