Amount of Vacation Pay. Vacation pay for those enjoying two (2) weeks' vacation, three (3) weeks' vacation, four (4) weeks' vacation, five (5) weeks' vacation and six (6) weeks' vacation with pay annually shall be calculated at four per centum (4%), six per centum (6%), eight per centum (8%), ten per centum (10%) and twelve per centum (12%) respectively of their total earnings for the year previous to their vacation.

Amount of Vacation Pay. The amount of vacation pay in the case of bargaining employees shall be computed and compensated based upon a forty (40) hour work week or such other denomination based upon the scheduled shift for the applicable work week/work period. A. During the period of December 1 through December 31 (preference period), employees shall submit to the Employer vacation leave preference requests for the following calendar year (i.e., January 1 through December 31 of the following year). During the first round of picks for the preference period each employee may request up to eighty (80) hours of vacation time. Each employee will have up to seventy-two (72) hours to pick each round. Once the list has circulated for the first round of picks, the list will rotate again in accordance with the terms set forth above. Vacation preference requests shall be awarded based upon departmental seniority and operational and scheduling requirements as determined by the Employer. For current bargaining unit employees in the Sergeant classification as of April 30, 2015, vacation preference requests shall continue to be awarded based upon departmental seniority and operational and scheduling requirements as determined by the Employer. For bargaining unit employees promoted on or after May 1, 2015, vacation preference requests shall be awarded based upon rank seniority and operational and scheduling requirements as determined by the Employer. Seniority will be determined according to the date of hire as a full-time employee of the Avon Police Department. Vacation leave may be utilized in increments of eight (8) hours per scheduled work day, or such other denomination based upon the scheduled shift for the applicable work day(s); subject to operational and staffing needs. Requests for less than four (4) hour increments may be granted at the discretion of the Chief of Police. B. Non-preference vacation requests shall normally be submitted by an employee at least seven (7) calendar days in advance of the date(s) being requested. The seven (7) day requirement may be waived at the discretion of the Chief. Non-preference vacation requests shall be granted on a first come first served basis except that when requests are simultaneous (requests presented on the same day), non-preference requests for a full week (seven [7] consecutive calendar days, Saturday through Friday or Monday through Sunday) of vacation, or more, will be given preference over simultaneous single day requests or simultaneous ...

For Christmas, New Years, Thanksgiving and Independence Day weeks the employee may either elect to receive an additional days pay at straight time or take off the Friday preceding the vacation or Monday immediately following. For Good Friday, Memorial Day, and Labor Day, the employee shall be paid an additional day's pay of eight (8) hours at the straight time hourly rate. Vacation pay shall be paid to the employee before leaving on his vacation.
