Automation and Technological Changes. (a) The Company will provide the Union with three (3) months written notice of intention to introduce automation equipment or technological change which will result in displacement or reduction of personnel. Such notice shall contain the following information when it becomes known or available to the Company:

Automation and Technological Changes. 6.01 Technological change is described as the automation of equipment, or the mechanization or automation of duties, or the replacement of an existing facility with a new facility that produces the same product. It does not cover the replacement of an eligible employee as the result of depressed business conditions, layoff caused by strike or slowdown, resource depletion, discontinuation of the manufacture of a product or service, retirement or voluntarily leaving the Company.
Automation and Technological Changes. 27.01 Technological changes and automation may have an impact on employees and conditions of employment. It is essential that these changes be utilized to the best advantage of both the Company and the employees.
Automation and Technological Changes. The Company agrees that it shall take every reasonable step to retrain and relocate any employees who have lost their jobs due to automation or technological changes. Employees will be given as much prior notice as is possible in the event that it is contemplated that they are likely to lose their jobs under this Article so that the system of retraining can be instituted at an early date. The Union, and the employees about to lose their jobs, shall be notified in writing at least two weeks prior to the termination of their job.
Automation and Technological Changes. 6.01 The Company undertakes to advise the Union in advance as far as is possible, of any technological or operational changes or installation of new equipment which the Company has decided to introduce which will result in significant changes in the employment status of employees or significantly alter the job content of one or more employees. When the above results in a reduction of the workforce, it will be carried out in the same manner as a lay-off and the terms of Article 5 will apply.
Automation and Technological Changes. The Company will advise the Union as soon as possible, and in any case not less than ninety (90) days before the introduction thereof, of technological changes and/or automation which the Company has decided to introduce which will result in the demotion, transfer or lay-off of employees. Should the introduction of technological or automation changes result in permanent lay-off of more that five (5) plant employees before the expiry date of this collective agreement, the Company is prepared to consider a special early retirement incentive program with the objective of minimizing the impact of such changes on affected employees and possibly reduce the number of employees that could be laid-off. Furthermore, the Company will attempt, within reasonable means, not to replace employees, who leave the service of the Company for any reason during that period, by hiring new permanent employees. Whenever such changes occur, a Joint Committee will be established in the plant. It shall be the function of the Committee to review and discuss the effects of such technological or automation changes on the employment status of employees and to consider practical ways and means to minimizing the adverse effect on employees displaced by such changes. An employee who is permanently set back to a lower paid job because of technological change or automation will receive the rate of his permanent job at the time of the set back for a period of six (6) months, and for a further period of six (6) months, he will be paid an adjusted rate which will be midway between the rate of his permanent job at the time of the set back and the rate of his new permanent job. At the end of this twelve (12) month period, the rate of his new permanent job will apply. Employees who are set back because of automation and technological changes shall be considered permanently set back after thirty (30) days. When an employee loses his job through automation or technological change, he will be given the first opportunity to a permanent job posting and the Company will train him for this job providing the employee has the seniority and ability. SEVERENCE PAY Should the Company permanently close down a plant or any part of a plant, and as a result of this permanent closure terminate the services of any employees, such employees who are terminated will be entitled to separation pay as follows: Employees with at least three (3) years of continuous service but less than five (5) years of continuous service ...

If any employee's service be terminated as the result of technological change, they shall be entitled to severance pay as outlined in the severance pay entitlement. Eligibility An employee to be eligible must have three years employment with the Company comprising full or part time employment (4500 hours in years). Severance Pay Entitlement As A Result of Technological Change. An eligible employee shall be paid one week’s pay for each year of eligible employment up to a maximum of weeks. The severance allowance shall be paid to the employee in a lump sum at the time of termination.
