BELIEF STATEMENTS. We believe the Teacher Evaluation System should:
1. Be a collaborative endeavor between the evaluators and the person being evaluated
2. Facilitate open communication in an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect
3. Provide teachers with a list of standards to clarify expected teacher performance
4. Help teachers develop skills as self-evaluators In accordance with the existing policy of continuous evaluation of all aspects of the total educational program, including pupil progress, personnel, curriculum, and facilities, a formal process of evaluating the teaching activities of all teachers is needed. The District has a responsibility to students, patrons, and staff to implement a continuous program of evaluation of the competencies of all teachers. Evaluation procedures should focus on performance, preceded by planning, and followed by assessment, resource assistance and review. As a cooperative process between the teachers and evaluator, the evaluation process will promote the success of the educational program. Through the offering of specific resource assistance, the assessment procedure should motivate self- improvement and promote personal and professional growth.
