Bereavement Leave (Paid leave). A Unit Member shall be granted necessary leave of absence with full pay if such absence is due to the death of an immediate family member of the Unit Member. The leave shall not exceed three (3) working days or five (5) working days if travel is in excess of 400 miles. Bereavement Leave is not charged to personal necessity leave. The immediate family, as used in this section, shall include the spouse/domestic partner, child/step- child, parent/step-parent, sibling/half-sibling, grand/great-grandparent, grand/great-grandchild, aunt or uncle, brother/sister-in-law, daughter/son-in-law, mother/father-in-law of the Unit Member or of the spouse/domestic partner of the Unit Member, or any other person for whom the Unit Member is legally responsible or any other member of the immediate household.

Bereavement Leave (Paid leave). 12.5.1 Every unit member shall be entitled to Bereavement Leave not to exceed three (3) consecutive work days, or five (5) consecutive work days if out-of-state travel or travel of more than three hundred (300) one-way miles is involved, on account of the death of any member of his/her immediate family. Leaves granted under this section shall not be deducted from leaves granted by other sections of this Agreement. Members of the immediate family include the step, xxxxxx, adoptive, or natural parent, grandparent, child, or grandchild of the unit member or the spouse of the unit member; and the spouse, step, xxxxxx, adoptive, or natural son, son-in-law, daughter, daughter-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, of the unit member, a grandparent of the unit member’s child, a person who reared the unit member in lieu of a parent, or any person living in the unit member’s household, or family member not specifically named whose bond with the unit member is of a parental, maternal, or fraternal nature. The unit member may be granted a leave of absence under the Personal Necessity provisions of this contract when the time constraints of this section are not adequate to meet the unit member’s Bereavement Leave needs.

Every certificated employee shall be entitled to a Bereavement Leave not to exceed three (3) consecutive work days, or five (5) consecutive work days if the employee is required to travel more than 300 miles on account of the death of each member of his/her immediate family. Bereavement Leave (Paid leave). 1. A full-time faculty member shall be eligible for a temporary leave of absence for the death of any member of his/her immediate family, without loss of salary. This leave will not exceed three (3) consecutive scheduled workdays. In the event of the death of an employee’s parent, spouse, or child, said leave shall be up to five (5) consecutive scheduled workdays. If out-of-state travel or travel of more than three hundred (300) miles one way is required, two (2) additional consecutive days will be authorized. The additional days must be requested prior to or during the authorized bereavement leave.

  • Bereavement Leave (a) Upon the death of an employee's spouse, spouse to include same sex partner, child or stepchild, an employee shall be granted leave up to a maximum of five (5) continuous calendar days without loss of pay. Part-time employees will be credited with seniority and service for all such leave.   • Bereavement Leave of Absence An employee who has a bereavement in their immediate family will be granted up to and including five (5) days absence with pay. Immediate family means spouse, (as defined in Section 2(b) of Appendix 2), parents, and child. For this provision “step” relationships are considered as immediate family. An employee who has a bereavement in their family will be granted up to and including three (3) days absence with pay. Family means brother, sister, parents-in-law, grandparents, grandchildren, son-in-law and daughter-in-law. For this provision “step” relationships are considered as family. In the event of the death of an employee's brother-in-law, sister-in-law or grand parents- in-law the employee will be given one (1) days' leave with pay to attend the funeral. An additional day's traveling time, in each direction, will be granted in order for the employee to attend the funeral if such is to be held in excess of 600 kilometers from the employees’ home.

  • Bereavement Leave With Pay For the purpose of this clause, immediate family is defined as father, mother, (or alternatively stepfather, stepmother or xxxxxx parent), brother, sister, spouse, (including common-law spouse resident with the employee), child (including child of common-law spouse), stepchild or xxxx of the employee, father-in-law, mother-in-law, grandparent, grandchild and relative permanently residing in the employee's household or with whom the employee permanently resides.

  • BEREAVEMENT/TANGIHANGA LEAVE 15.1 The employer shall approve special bereavement leave on pay for an employee to discharge any obligation and/or to pay respects to a deceased person with whom the employee has had a close association. Such obligations may exist because of blood or family ties or because of particular cultural requirements such as attendance at all or part of a Tangihanga (or its equivalent). The length of time off shall be at the discretion of the employer.

  • ARTICLE BEREAVEMENT LEAVE If a death occurs in the immediate family of an employee bereavement leave shall not start until the day following the death of that person. Employees shall be granted five (5) consecutive days leave without loss of pay and benefits in the case of the death of parent, spouse, common law spouse, brother, sister, grandchild, son or daughter. Employees shall be granted three (3) consecutive days leave without loss of pay and benefits in the case of the death of grandparent, mother in-law, father-in-law, brother-in- law, sister in-law, son-in-law, or daughter-in-law, step parents, step siblings. Employees shall receive one (1) day off to attend the funeral of an aunt or uncle provided that they attend the funeral or other service. Employees shall only be paid bereavement for actual time lost and shall not be paid on their regular scheduled days off. Additional leave may be granted at the discretion of the department head. If a death occurs, as in during vacation bereavement leave shall be substituted and the vacation shall be rescheduled at a later date. Where an employee has been requested and has agreed to act as a pallbearer, time off work shall be granted without loss of pay to attend the funeral or other service. Where such a request involves more than one employee equal considerationshall be granted. ARTICLE DUTY The EMPLOYER shall grant a leave of absence Without loss of seniority and benefits to an employee who serves as a juror. The EMPLOYER shall grant a leave of absence without loss of seniority and benefits to an employee who is subpoenaed to serve as a witness in any matter arising out of his employment. EMPLOYER shall pay such employee his regular straight time pay for each day as long as the remuneration from the Court is returned to and provided the employee would otherwise have been scheduled to work for the EMPLOYER and does not work. The employee must give prior notice to the EMPLOYER and shall present proof of service.
