Bilingual Stipends. Employees who are required to use their bilingual skills significantly in the course of their normal workday to communicate with the students, families and/or public on a regular basis may request and receive an annual Bilingual stipend payment of $750.00 added to their current salary, to be paid monthly, prorated to their pay cycle. This stipend requires the approval of their site administrator.
Bilingual Stipends. 1. In assigning students to classes in grades one through six prior to the beginning of the school year, the District shall make every reasonable effort to balance the composition of those classes so that the classes at each grade level at a particular elementary school site will contain the same or nearly the same numbers of Limited English Proficient (LEP) and Non-English Proficient (NEP) students.
2. For those bargaining unit members possessing one of the credentials or certificates listed below, the District will pay an incentive stipend in the following amounts: Mountain View unit members who possess CLAD/CTEL certification and who have a student load of twelve (12) or more students as of the cut off date for the payment of stipends. [One-half of this stipend, i.e. $250, shall be paid at the end of each semester.] $500 Mountain View unit members who possess CLAD/CTEL certification and who have a student load of fewer than twelve (12) students as of the cut off date for the payment of stipends. [One-half of this stipend, i.e. $125, shall be paid at the end of each semester.] $250 Language Development Specialist Certificate $500 ESL Supplementary Authorization Credential $350
3. The stipends set forth in paragraph 2 above are separate and may not be combined.

Bilingual Stipends. Basic Usage
a. Unit members who use their bilingual verbal/conversational translation skills on a regular basis to perform non-instructional/non-IEP/non-legal support services for the District shall receive a monthly stipend of eighty-five dollars ($85.00). In order to be eligible for this stipend, designated staff must pass a District “verbal/conversational translation” assessment. Each school site will be limited to two staff members eligible for the stipend to be determined by the site or department administrator.
b. Unit members who use their bilingual verbal skills and writing skills on a regular basis to perform non-instructional/non-IEP/non-legal support services for the District shall receive a monthly stipend of one hundred fifteen dollars ($115.00). In order to be eligible for this stipend, designated classified employees must pass the District “verbal/conversational translation assessment” as well as the “written assessment.” Each school site will be limited to a maximum of three (3) staff members who may receive stipends stated above in either 5a or 5b. The District shall provide a seventy-five dollar ($75.00) a month stipend to 12 unit members designated annually by their site principals or District Office supervisor as being 13 responsible for providing interpretation services. Occasional Translation Services 17 Unit members who perform occasional work with oral and/or written 18 translation and have passed the District’s bilingual competency 19 examination shall receive five percent (5%) above the unit member’s 20 hourly rate of pay for any hours the unit member spends performing 21 translation services. Unit members whose job descriptions require 22 bilingual competency are exempt from this differential pay rate.
Bilingual Stipends. Unit members who possess a BCLAD or BCC and who serve in an assignment in which they are required to provide instructional or support services to students bilingually shall be paid an annual stipend of $500. The unit member shall not be serving under an emergency permit or waiver. In positions where a unit member does not have a BCLAD or a BCC, second-language proficiency standards shall be established by the District. This stipend applies to the following positions: classroom teacher, Education Specialist, SDC moderate/severe teacher, speech therapist*, social worker*, instrumental music teacher, nurse*, psychologist*, and pre-school teacher*. (District provided second-language proficiency standards shall apply to positions indicated by “*”.)
Bilingual Stipends. 27 9.11.1 Any unit member who has successfully passed the District’s bilingual test(s), 28 verbal, and/or written, and is assigned to be available to provide such service 29 shall receive additional compensation of two-and-one-half percent (2 ½%) to 30 his/her regular rate of pay for all hours worked for the duration of the period of 31 availability as determined by the District.
Bilingual Stipends. 9.11.1. Any unit member who has successfully passed the District’s verbal bilingual test and is assigned to be available to provide such services shall receive additional compensation of 2.5% to the unit member’s Base Pay for all hours worked for the duration of the period of availability as determined by the District.
9.11.2. Any unit member who has successfully passed the District’s written bilingual test and is assigned to be available to provide such services shall receive additional compensation of 2.5% to the unit member’s Base Pay for all hours worked for the duration of the period of availability as determined by the District.
9.11.3. The total of bilingual stipends for any unit member shall not exceed 5%.

c. The Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources shall be responsible for determining if an assignment requires bilingual instruction and/or support service to students.
d. Unit members shall receive annual notification of their qualification for the bilingual stipend, as well as whether they no longer qualify for the stipend.
