Captain. The captain of a Dutch ship.
Captain. When an employee who is classified as a Firefighter is temporarily detailed to perform all duties of a Captain for one (1) hour or more, such employee shall be paid the base rate, and any premiums, if applicable, of the Captain classification for the hours worked at the hourly rate.
Captain. (a) The written exam shall consist of up to of 200 multiple choice and fill in the blank questions.
(b) Oral and written exam questions shall be based solely on the following materials: the NFPA Fire Officer I, the Occupational Health and Safety Guide including Section 21 Guidance Notes, the Oakville Fire Department’s Company Officer Resource Manual and be referenced in the same.
(c) The oral examination shall be done before an assessment board consisting of the Fire Chief or designate and two Deputy Chiefs.
(d) A series of photos that depict emergency incidents shall be shown in presentation format to each candidate and prescribed and relevant questions will be asked about each photo. The candidate will be scored as to whether they mentioned all or any of the answers that the selection committee has predetermined to be acceptable. The marking scheme for the photo scenarios will ensure that no subjectivity exists, meaning that if a predetermined benchmark is attained a mark shall be given for attaining it.
(i) Applicants must have a minimum five (5) years’ experience as a First Class Fire Fighter with the Oakville Fire Department unless there is mutual agreement between the parties to this agreement to lower the requirement.
(ii) Those Fire Fighters hired after October 1, 2018 must have a minimum of four and a half (4.5) years of experience as a First Class Fire Fighter with the Oakville Fire Department unless there is mutual agreement between the parties to this agreement to lower the requirement.
(f) Upon attaining the overall mark of 70% (or greater), the employee(s) shall be placed on the Officer Rank Promotional List in the order of the marks until a promotion is available, or for two (2) years. Once an employee has acted in a position, he/she shall not be required to re-qualify and he/she shall be placed on the Officer Rank Promotional List permanently. Any employee who has attained the acting position and acted in that position shall be promoted as his/her name comes up in the order as posted on the Officer Rank Promotional List.
(g) The successful candidate shall be required to complete the NFPA Fire Officer I Program and participate in prescriptive on-shift training as provided by the Fire Department to ensure current standards are maintained.
Captain. A pilot, designated by the Company, to command an aircraft, and who has authority over all crew members and passengers for the purpose of operating that aircraft.

Captain. A Crew Member who is in first command of the aircraft and its Crew Members, and whose primary responsibilities include the manipulation of the controls of the aircraft while underway.
Captain. 1. In addition to the Lieutenant’s eligibility to be promoted to Captain, the member must serve two (2) years at the classification of Lieutenant.
2. Promotion of eligible members will be on the basis of Kamloops Fire Rescue seniority provided the candidate maintains a competent level relative to the position to which they will be promoted.
3. Length of service as a Lieutenant will be the determining factor for those members having equal seniority.
4. Successfully complete the Fire Officer Level II from a recognized fire academy.
5. Act in the senior capacity when required to do so by Kamloops Fire Rescue administration.
6. It is expected that all existing Captains will have completed the Fire Officer Level II by December 31, 2019. No employee will be denied promotion to Captain, or to act as a Captain, if they have not been given reasonable opportunity to take Fire Officer Level II.
7. Training Division staff who have completed a minimum of two (2) consecutive years in the Training Division shall be considered eligible for Captain in the Suppression Division provided they are the senior applicant and meet all other minimum qualifications.

Captain. A Captain, upon appointment, will receive 5% additional compensation based on his respective firefighter pay step in the contract while on probation. A Captain will receive a total of 10% additional compensation based on his respective firefighter pay step in the contract upon successful completion of probation.
Captain. Full rate for Fire Lieutenant with comparable years of service plus fifteen percent (15%) (Differential includes step program).
