The Employer agrees to make every reasonable effort to ensure that employees required to work shall have at least Christmas Day or the following New Year's Day off. Paid Holiday Pay Payment for holidays will be made at an employee's basic pay, except if an employee has been working in a higher paid position than her regular position for a majority of the sixty (60) working days preceding her holiday, in which case she shall receive the higher pay.
Christmas Day or New Year's Day Off. The Employer guarantees, where possible, for those classifications that are required to work, employees will be granted either Christmas Day or New Year's Day off on a rotational basis. If the Employee is granted Christmas Day one year, the next year they will be entitled to New Year’s Day off. In the case of part-time employees, this applies to such employees that are regularly scheduled. This Article will be applied in consideration of Article 17.9. Employees will be able to exchange shifts during this time. The Employee may request to work both Christmas Day and New Year’s Day if they are regularly scheduled to work those days. The Employee shall notify the Employer, in writing, of their intent to work both days by October 1st.
