Definition of a Vacancy. A vacancy is a job opening in the bargaining unit which the Employer determines to fill. Vacancies can result from promotion, demotion, transfer, termination of an employee or from the addition of new positions. A vacancy is not created by an assignment change within the same job classification, same department, and on the same shift.

Definition of a Vacancy a. A vacancy is defined as the creation of a new position through Board action or a decision of the Board to fill a position which may have resulted from Board/Administrative action concerning transfer, retirement, resignation, termination, non-renewal, etc. b. Administrative reassignments within a building or buildings where there is not a loss or gain in the total number of bargaining unit positions in the building(s) or the recall of eligible suspended unit members pursuant to 6.K (2) (d) will not be defined as vacancies.

Definition of a Vacancy. In order for a position to be considered vacant, the position must have come available for a period in excess of thirty (30) calendar days. Should this occur the provisions, as set out below, will apply. Temporary openings (i.e. thirty (30) calendar days or less) shall be filled at the discretion of the Employer.
