Definition - Sick Leave. For the purposes of administration of the Sick Leave Bank, the definition of sick leave shall be: Sick Leave is a designated amount of compensated leave that is to be granted to a SLB member who through qualifying, incapacitating, catastrophic personal illness or injury, as certified by a legally qualified physician, or quarantine, as certified by the proper health agency, is disabled and therefore unable to perform the duties of his/her position. Sick leave from the SLB may not be granted for the period of disability when monies are paid to the contributor under the special paid leave sections of the current Negotiated Master Agreement, or to contributors injured on the job.

  • Sick Leave Definition Sick leave shall be defined as time off the job because of: illness; bodily injury; exposure to a contagious disease; attendance upon members of the immediate family; death in the immediate family; and diagnostic treatment, dental procedures and optician services when such services are performed by duly licensed practitioners.

Effective September 1, 2003 100% of the unused days each year are accumulated, to a possible sick leave total of three hundred (300) days. Sick leave days will be pro-rated for part-time employment.

An employee joining the Board staff during the year shall be given current sick leave credits on the basis of days for each months' employment. The City and the Union commit to the evaluation and establishment of a mutually beneficial non-use of sick leave incentive and pay-out policy. Until such time that a policy is established, accumulated sick leave shall be compensated as follows: Upon retirement from the City service, an employee shall be paid sixty percent (60%) of his accumulated sick leave, with the rate of payment based upon his regular pay at the time he retires. Upon the death of an employee, his beneficiary shall be paid sixty percent (60%) of his accumulated unused sick leave, with the payment based upon his regular pay at the date of his death.

  • Unpaid Sick Leave The City Manager shall, upon the advice and recommendation of the City physician, grant unpaid sick leave for up to one (1) year upon application of any employee whose paid sick leave is exhausted. Any extension of such leave shall be subject to the Civil Service Board rules.
