Special Paid Leave. A nurse having completed at least six (6) years of continuous service on June 6, 2014 who has, at January 1st of any year, a positive Frozen Sick Bank Amount to her/his credit may elect to take one special paid leave in that calendar year of up to 37.5 hours or the number of hours remaining in the nurse’s Frozen Sick Bank based on the nurse’s current rate, whichever is lesser, in consecutive days. If a nurse has a least 37.5 hours in her/his Frozen Sick Bank Amount at her/his current rate, the special paid leave must be taken as a full consecutive week. If a nurse elects to take a special paid leave, her/his Frozen Sick Bank Amount shall be reduced as of the commencement of such paid leave by the value of such leave at the nurse’s current rate. Furthermore: (a) The scheduling of annual vacations will take precedence over the scheduling of a special paid leave. Following April of each year employees entitled to special paid leave may select the period(s) of leave in conjunction with outstanding vacation and in a manner consistent with Article 15. (b) Scheduling of special paid leave will be subject to the reasonable staffing requirements of the Employer and shall otherwise conform to the conditions governing scheduling of annual vacations. Except as provided herein there will be no further entitlement for special paid leave.

Special Paid Leave. The parties agree that commensurate with the Health Services commitment to Teaching, Training and Research and the practice of medicine that Special Paid Leave may be granted to Specialists by the Executive Director, Medical Services for the purpose of advancing medicine eg: supervision of examinations and other College based activities. This provision is however strictly based on the following conditions: (a) that the Specialists Health Service commitments can be met, (b) that other than for identifiable and exceptional circumstances at least four weeks notice is given in accordance with the Health Service leave delegation policy prior to the period of special leave, and (c) that the period of special leave is agreed prior to the leave being taken.
Special Paid Leave. Nurses will be granted career leave twice as follows: Each opportunity below would be available once in each nNurse’s career if she/he qualifies: (a) A nurse who has more than nine hundred (900) hours of accumulated sick leave to her/his credit as of January 1st may elect to take a special paid leave equal to one (1) week thirty-five hours (35) of her/his credited sick leave days. Her/his sick leave credits shall be reduced as of the commencement of such paid leave by two (2) days for each day of special paid leave. (b) A Nurse who has more than one thousand two hundred (1200) hours of accumulated sick leave to her/his credit as of January 1st may elect to take a special paid leave equal to one (1) week thirty-five (35) hours of her/his credited sick leave days. Her/his sick leave credits shall be reduced as of the commencement of such paid leave by two (2) days for each day of special paid leave.
Special Paid Leave. Special Paid Leave may be granted where special or unforeseen circumstances may prevent the employee from attending work. This could be matters relating to family and domestic violence, serious community emergencies such as floods, bushfires and other catastrophic events.
Special Paid Leave. (i) Should a full time or part time employee be deemed a close contact of a COVID- 19 positive person whom they encountered at work and they have been instructed by NSW Health and the Employer to self-isolate, they will be entitled to apply for Special Paid Leave for the period of self-isolation at their ordinary rate. (ii) Where a casual employee has been deemed a close contact of a COVID-19 positive person whom they encountered at work and they have been instructed by NSW Health and the Employer to self-isolate, they will be able to access an ex- gratia payment for this period which will be reimbursed to the Employer once they have received the Pandemic Leave Disaster Payment through the Government. (iii) Should the employee then test positive for COVID-19 and it has been proved through genomic testing that the infection was acquired during the course of their duties, the employee would be entitled to submit a Workers Compensation claim. (iv) In the event a Workers Compensation claim is not submitted or the employee was not proved to have acquired the COVID-19 infection through the course of their duties then the Special Paid Leave shall revert to sick leave. Should the employee have an insufficient sick leave balance, they will move into an annual leave in advance status.

Special Paid Leave. (1) The Company shall reimburse confirmed employees for the expense of one sitting for an examination provided the employee applies and obtains prior approval from the Company on the course of study. (2) Special paid leave may be granted to confirmed employees sitting for examinations on approved courses.

Special Paid Leave. 25.01 In the case of the death of his spouse or his child, an employee has the right to seven (7) days of leave, without loss of salary. How- ever, the employee is free to add to this period the accumulated days of vacation or an unpaid leave of a duration not exceeding fifteen (15) work days. 25.02 In the case of the death of his father or his mother, an employee has the right to five (5) days of leave, without loss of salary. 25.03 In the case of the death of the father or the mother of his spouse, his brother, his sister, his brother-in-law or his sister-in-law, an em- ployee has the right to three (3) days of leave, without loss of salary. 25.04 In the case of the death of his grandfather or his grandmother, or the grandfather or grandmother of his spouse, an employee may absent himself from work, without loss of salary, on the day of the funeral, if he attends the funeral. 25.05 The days of leave envisioned in paragraphs 25.01 to 25.03 are granted without loss of salary on the following conditions: a) That the days are consecutive; and b) That the first day of leave be that of the death or the day after the death, whether the day be workable or not. Otherwise, the only paid days during the leave are those where the employee would normally have worked, had there been no death. However, upon the death of a father, mother, spouse, child of an employee during the period of annual vacation, the days of leave envisioned in paragraphs 25.01 and 25.02 are carried over. 25.06 An employee has the right to three (3) consecutive days of unpaid leave on the occasion of his marriage, on the condition that he makes a request at least two (2) weeks in advance. 25.07 In the case of the marriage of his brother, sister, brother-in-law or sister-in-law, an employee may have that one (1) day of his weekly leave changed to coincide with the day of the marriage, provided that he makes a request, in writing, at least fifteen (15) days in advance. Special Paid Leave. C. 2. 01 On and after July 1st, 1975 a nurse having completed at least six (6) years of continuous service who has, at January 1st or July 1st of any year, more than 900 hours of accumulated sick leave to her/his credit may elect to take one special paid leave in that or the following calendar year equal to one-third of her/his credited sick leave days in excess of 900 hours provided that her/his sick leave credits shall be reduced as of the commencement of such paid leave by three (3) days for each day of special paid leave, and further provided that: (a) a nurse having qualified once for special paid leave shall become entitled to elect such leave once again as of any January 1st or July 1st, that is two (2) more years after the preceding qualification date and on which she/he shall then have at least 120 days of accumulated sick leave to her/his credit; (b) a nurse who has qualified for a special paid leave and who, prior to the commencement of such leave, shall have used any days of sick leave for the purpose of a verified illness, may elect by written notice to the immediate Supervisor to defer her/his qualification date for such leave, and having so elected, her/his qualification date shall be changed to the next January 1st and July 1st that she/he shall have accumulated more than 120 days of sick leave credits; (c) Except by mutual consent, a special paid leave shall be taken in no more than two (2) portions; (d) The scheduling of annual vacations will take precedence over the scheduling of a special paid leave(s). Following April of each year employees entitled to special paid leave may select the period(s) of leave in conjunction with outstanding vacation and in a manner consistent with E. 2. 00. (e) Scheduling of paid leave shall be subject to the reasonable staffing requirements of the Employer and shall otherwise conform to the conditions governing scheduling of annual vacations.
