Employees Required to Work on Holidays. A. Any employee eligible for holiday pay, required to work on a day designated as a holiday under the provisions of the Personnel Rules, shall be paid at the straight time rate for the normal work hours on said day, and, in addition, shall receive pay equal to and in lieu of time off for said holiday. Hours worked in excess of the normal work hours on such holiday shall be considered as overtime hours and shall be compensated for under the appropriate overtime pay provisions. For any hours worked, the employee shall accumulate compensatory time at the rate of one and one-half (1-1/2) hours for each hour worked. When a holiday falls on a normally assigned day off for an employee who is eligible to receive holiday pay, that employee shall receive additional pay equal to and in lieu of time off for said holiday. Said additional pay equal to and in lieu of time off for said holiday shall be 8 hours at the employee's regular straight time hourly rate of pay. B. When an employee eligible for holiday pay, who is required to work on a day designated as a holiday under the provisions of the Personnel Rules, becomes ill and is unable to report for work on that day, the employee shall be paid at the straight time rate for the sick leave hours scheduled to work on said day, and in addition will receive pay equal to and in lieu of time off for said holiday.

Employees Required to Work on Holidays. 1. Any employee who shall be required to work on any holiday which he/she is entitled to take off under the provisions hereof shall receive compensation therefore at the rate of time and one-half for actual hours worked plus eight hours of holiday pay, or he/she may take equivalent time off as determined by his/her Department Head. All employees who are entitled to be absent on any holiday, and who in fact are absent, shall receive full compensation therefore at the straight time rate. 2. Those employees whose work schedules and assignment of duties require him/her to work on an authorized holiday shall receive eight (8) hours of holiday pay for such work at the same rate of pay at which he/she is employed, in addition to his/her normal pay for the time worked. 3. If a holiday occurs on a day which is the employee's regular day off, he/she shall be entitled to holiday pay in the amount of eight (8) hours at straight time.

Said additional pay equal to and in lieu of time off for said holiday shall be equal to the actual hours worked up to a maximum of eight (8) hours at the employee’s regular straight time hourly rate of pay. Any employee eligible for holiday pay, required to work on the following actual holidays; Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day, Friday after Thanksgiving, or New Year’s Day, shall be paid at the straight time rate for the normal work hours on said day and, in addition, may elect to receive pay equal to and in lieu of time off for said holiday. Hours worked in excess of the normal work hours on such holiday shall be considered as overtime hours and shall be compensated for under the appropriate overtime pay provisions. Said additional pay equal to and in lieu of time off for said holiday shall be equal to the actual hours worked up to a maximum of eight (8) hours at the employee overtime (time and one half) hourly rate of pay.

  • Work on Holidays An employee who is required to work, or works with prior approval, any part of a holiday shall receive holiday compensatory time for up to eight (8) hours, on an hour for hour basis, for the actual non-overtime hours worked in addition to their regular rate of pay. An employee who works overtime on a holiday shall be compensated in accordance with all applicable pay and overtime provisions. An employee must use holiday compensatory time within one (1) year after having accrued that time.

(c) In the event of a scheduling conflict, 12.07 (a) will be the deciding provision.

  • Compensation for Holidays Falling Within Vacation Schedule If a paid holiday falls on or is observed during an Employee's vacation period, she shall be allowed an additional vacation day with pay at a time mutually agreed upon by the Employer and the Employee.

  • Vacation; Holidays The Executive shall be entitled to all public holidays observed by the Company and vacation days in accordance with the applicable vacation policies for senior executives of the Company, which shall be taken at a reasonable time or times.

  • Religious Holidays When a religious holiday, not observed as a holiday, as provided in Section 2 above, falls on a supervisor's regularly scheduled work day, the supervisor shall be entitled to that day off to observe the religious holiday. Time to observe religious holidays shall be taken without pay except where the supervisor has sufficient accumulated vacation leave or accumulated compensatory time, or, by mutual consent, is able to make the time up. Supervisors shall notify the Appointing Authority at least twenty-eight (28) calendar days prior to the leave.

  • Work on Fridays (a) This clause only applies in circumstances where clause 37.5 – Leisure Time Protected applies. (b) The Employer and Employees will endeavour to ensure that wherever possible and subject to operational requirements, normal productive work shall cease at the finish of ordinary hours on Fridays. (c) Operational requirements that would require productive work to continue past this time include, but are not limited to circumstances where such work will be able to continue if the work is necessary for the production schedule to be maintained or to ensure that other Employees can be productively employed. (d) Other circumstances where work will be able to continue include the following: to recover time lost due to excessive periods of inclement weather, matters not necessarily the fault of the employer which have led to the project being delayed or behind schedule, the requirement to meet the Principal’s work program and unexpected delays in the project due to scheduling of other works or supply of materials. Note 1: An Employee has the right to determine their representation (if any) in accordance with Part 7 – Employee Representation of this Agreement.

Executive, administrative and professional employees designated in the Annual Salary Ordinance with the "Z" symbol shall not receive extra compensation for holiday work but may be granted time off equivalent to the time worked at the rate of-one-and-one-half times for work on the holiday.
