Certification Pay. A nurse who obtains and maintains a nationally recognized nursing certification shall receive a differential of $1.00 per hour for all compensated hours. If initial certification is obtained during the prior calendar year, only those hours that are compensated beginning with the first full payroll period subsequent to certification shall be considered. An approved certification list shall be established by mutual consent between the PNCC and the Chief Nurse Executive or designee and shall be updated on an annual basis.
Certification Pay. Employees who are certified in a specialty area by a national or state organization and who are working in that area of certification will receive an annual bonus of 2% of their gross pay, provided that the particular certification has been approved by the appropriate Vice President or designee, and further provided that the employee continues to meet all educational and other requirements to maintain the certification in good standing. A certified employee is eligible for only one certification premium, regardless of other certifications the employee may have. Certified employees will notify their manager in writing at the time certification is received and will provide a copy of the original certification document. Certification pay will be paid annually in either September or October. Certification pay will not be paid for certifications that are required for their position. Certified Nurse’s Aides (CNAs) will not be eligible for certification pay for the certification required for their position.
Certification Pay. Certification Pay. Nurses certified in a specialty area recognized by the Employer, as defined in section 4.11, shall receive a premium of one dollar twenty five cents ($1.25) per hour.
Certification Pay. A. All members who hold a State of Ohio EMT-B (Emergency Medical Technician-Basic) certification shall be paid an annual certification pay equal to four percent (4%) of the base salary of the rank of Assistant Fire Chief.
B. Effective October 26, 2014, all members covered by this agreement shall be paid an annual Fire Firefighter certification pay equal to one percent (1%) of the member’s base salary for their rank or grade.
C. All annual certification pay referred to in this Article shall be paid in addition to current salary on a bi-weekly basis. Excluding Fire Fighter certification pay, members shall not receive pay for more than one (1) certification level at a time. All certification pay will be included in all reports made to the Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund relating to the members earnings. Both the City and Local 48 agree that this provision is intended to have no FLSA implication.
D. Members who fail to maintain their Emergency Medical Technician certification may not receive Emergency Medical Technician certification pay and may be subject to the disciplinary process. Members who lose their Emergency Medical Technician certification through no fault of their own shall not lose their certification pay and, with assistance from administration, will be required to regain their Emergency Medical Technician certification within a reasonable period of time.
Certification Pay. Any nurse in the Sheriff’s Department who completes the requirements and is assigned and performs work under an advanced standardized protocol in a correction facility shall receive certification pay of $800 per year, payable in semi-annual installments. Any nurse who maintains appropriate certifications and is required to regularly administer chemotherapy treatments shall receive certification pay of $700 per year, payable in semi-annual installments. Such payments shall be made in the first full pay period in January and July of each year.
Certification Pay. A. All members who hold a State of Ohio Paramedic Certification (EMT-P) shall be paid an annual certification pay equal to ten percent (10%) of the base salary of the rank of Fire Fighter 4.
B. All members who hold a State of Ohio EMT-B (Emergency Medical Technician-Basic) certification shall be paid an annual certification pay equal to four percent (4%) of the base salary of the rank of Fire Fighter 4.
C. All members who are certified as Explosive Ordinance Disposal Technicians (“EOD”) and are permanently assigned to Engine 14 / Bomb Unit shall be paid an annual certification pay equal to seven percent (7%) of the base salary of the rank of Fire Fighter 4.
D. All members permanently assigned to Heavy Rescue 14 or Heavy Rescue 9 who hold all certifications and achieve minimum training requirements as established through Article 37 of this agreement shall be paid an annual certification pay equal to seven percent (7%) of the base salary of the rank of Fire Fighter 4.
E. Effective October 26, 2014, all members covered by this agreement shall be paid an annual Fire Firefighter certification pay equal to one percent (1%) of the member’s base salary for their rank or grade.
F. With the exception of Fire Fighter certification pay, Fire Recruits shall not be eligible to receive Certification Pay until they have completed Drill School and have received their step up to Fire Fighter Probationary (FF-PR).

1. A list of approved certification programs will be kept in Human Resources.
2. Annually, the Conference Committee will review the current list of certifications.
3. The Conference Committee may consider adding new certification programs by reviewing the program description, including purpose, scope, term, per-requisites, re-certification and any other pertinent information. All new certifications are subject to the Hospital budget review and approval for funding. The Conference Committee will determine the practice areas in which the certification will apply.
4. The nurse must document certification achievement and re-certification to Human Resources..
5. Only one (1) certification premium rate can be credited per nurse, regardless of other certifications a nurse may have.

Certification pay will be effective the first full pay period after the date documentation is received by the Director/Manager.
