Employees Working Alone. Where an employee is employed under conditions where he might be injured and not be able to secure assistance, the employer shall devise some method of checking on the well-being of the xxxxxxx at intervals which are reasonable and practicable under the circumstances.
Employees Working Alone. No employee covered by this Agreement shall be required to operate a machine while alone on any shift or any overtime work. When machines are being operated, if physical obstructions or other interferences prohibit adequate communications between workers, other arrangements will be made.
Employees Working Alone. (a) The Employer agrees to implement appropriate procedures to safeguard employees required to work alone. Proposed procedures shall be referred to the Health and Safety Committee for review. Recommended procedures endorsed by a consensus of the Health and Safety Committee shall be implemented, unless the Employer can demonstrate just and reasonable cause why it is unable to do so. In such instance it shall be the responsibility of the Employer to implement appropriate alternative procedures.
(b) Where employees are required to work alone, they shall be supplied with effective communications and have a pre-arranged employee check made at specified locations, or any such other arrangements that are mutually agreed.
Employees Working Alone. The Employer shall set up a check-in procedure for all employees who work alone under conditions which present a risk of disabling injury as outlined in the WCB OHS Regulations, in consultation with employees who work alone and the JOHSC. The procedure will be set up with log books indicating who and how each employee was checked for safety with dates and times of every check. The Employer shall pay for any costs associated with the implementation of the procedure.

(a) Employees who work alone shall be supplied appropriate equipment necessary in order to ensure personal safety. Appropriate equipment and the procedure for check-in outlined in (b) below, may vary dependent on the variety of work alone situations. The Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee ("Joint OH&S Committee") shall take input from employees in working alone situations and WorkSafeBC to determine what equipment is appropriate, and make recommendations to the Employer. Equipment shall be supplied and paid for by the Employer.

An employee who completes the required training and becomes certified in emergency response shall receive a yearly pro-rated allowance of three hundred dollars ($300.00). To be eligible for the allowance, the employee must maintain such certification and be designated as an member by the Employer.
