Seniority Principle. The Parties recognize that job opportunity and seniority should increase in proportion to length of service. It is agreed that the term "seniority" as used herein, shall have reference to an employee's right to a job based upon their length of service with the Company, and their potential to efficiently fulfil the job requirements.

Seniority Principle. 52 It shall be the policy of the Company to follow the principle of seniority whenever skill is not a consideration when moving transferred employees out and returning employees to their home department. Employees will be transferred from their home department by inverse seniority regardless of shift assignment provided the remaining employees are qualified to perform the work. When it is necessary to transfer employees and the position to be transferred to is a job of a higher labor grade than in the department, employees are to be transferred by seniority. Senior employees will be offered said transfer prior to junior employees being forced to transfer, provided the remaining employees are qualified to perform the work. Transferred employees will be returned to their home department on the basis of seniority whenever skill is not a consideration.
Seniority Principle. Employees with seniority may apply for posted job vacancies. Employees shall not be permitted to make more than one (1) suc- cessful bid in the exact position (job classification, days and hours) during any six (6) month period. Employees awarded a job posting will receive a qualification period of up to ninety (90) calendar days from the effective date of their transfer. During the qualification peri- od, the employee must be able to demonstrate the basic require- ments of the job with reasonable instruction. Employees who are so qualified cannot disqualify themselves once qualification occurs. Any employee who accepts a promotion in accordance with the provisions of this Section and fails to demonstrate his or her ability to perform the work involved shall be transferred to the job classification from which he or she was promoted, displacing the employee, if any, who replaced him or her without loss of seniority. Nothing contained in this Section shall prevent the City from temporarily filling a posted vacancy until an employee is transferred in accordance with this Section.
