Extra Curricular/Field Trips. 1. The drivers shall post, maintain and assist all Extra Curricular Trips, subject to the general direction of the Superintendent or his designee. 2. Bidding for extra curricular/field trips as scheduled by the employer/coach shall be held on the first working day of the week at 9:00 a.m. for all regular drivers for the following week. The bidding shall begin on July 1st of each year with the top senior driver given the option first, then continue down through the seniority list. Bidding shall continue until all trips scheduled for the week are bid. All trips not bid shall then be granted to a substitute driver. When extra runs become available during the month, bidding shall begin with the next regular driver in the seniority list following the last trip bid. Probationary period for new hires shall be 30 calendar days in which all rights of bidding will commence. 3. When a trip is canceled prior to departure time, it shall be granted to the assigned driver when rescheduled. If the assigned driver is unavailable, the trip shall be assigned according to the seniority rotation list. Should there be a need to transport Xxxxxx students to an athletic event, educational field trip, etc., they shall be transported by a Xxxxxx Bus Driver holding a current CDL LICENSE, in a Xxxxxx City school bus, van, etc. Except for the following reasons: a. That a bus is not available. b. That a qualified substitute is not available. c. That a number of students when transported by an advisor/coach shall not exceed nine (9), except that parents may transport any number of students. d. No vans shall be driven unless it is driven by a Xxxxxx bus driver with a CDL license. e. That for a special occasion, the Board has authorized transportation in a “coach bus” (Example: Championship, state or regional playoff, etc.) Should a question arise to the transportation of the event, the UNION may request to meet with the superintendent for a final ruling.

Extra Curricular/Field Trips. A. The hourly rate to be paid from the time the bus leaves the point of storage until return to the point of storage is Step 0 of the bus driver salary schedule. B. Fifteen (15) minutes may be added at the end of the trip for clean-up, if necessary. Any additional assignment(s) before and/or after a scheduled trip shall be included for purposes of compensation. C. If the Transportation Supervisor determines that an extra-curricular/field trip is to be double-tripped, drivers shall receive their regular hourly rate of pay instead of the trip rate. D. A double trip takes place when the same trip is being transported to and from a location on the same day with no layover time required for the driver. (Two round- trips or a one-way round trip for the pick-up or drop off of passengers; i.e., Sixth Grade Camp and Peer Leadership Camps.) E. A properly certified school bus driver must be assigned to drive extra-curricular trips consisting of ten (10) or more students to any school sponsored event. No volunteers shall be utilized to transport students to/from extra-curricular events using school vehicles.
Extra Curricular/Field Trips. 1. A properly certified bus driver must be assigned to drive an extra-curricular/field trips which occur during the regular school year. An extra-curricular filed trip is defined as any trip in which more than eight (8) total passengers (at least one (1) being a student) are being transported to any school related function from portal to portal. (Passengers are to include students, coaches, and or adult volunteers.) Such a trip is defined for each individual team (not meant to divide such groups as the JV basketball team from the Varsity basketball team.) Members from separate teams will be combined for transportation purposes when deemed appropriate by management for the most efficient and effective manner. Actual time of trips shall include a pre-trip and interior cleaning. 2. Extra field trips shall be paid at the regular hourly rate for the time that includes regular contract hours and field trip rate for hours beyond normal contract hours. The minimum time for field trips shall be three (3) hours. a. Over-night field trips will receive pay for all driving time and additional compensation of $50.00 for each night. The employee will be provided a single room for the night(s). b. Drivers may not be excused from their regularly assigned route runs or other duties in order to take a field trip, except that all overnight team trips will be posted to be assigned by order of seniority. When circumstances result in a request being made after Thursday at 10:00 a.m., an attempt will be made to contact drivers as per the list prior to requesting a sub to take the trip. A driver who rejects an extra trip posted after Thursday at 10:00 a.m. shall not loose his position on the extra trip list. A monthly report shall be made to the President of OAPSE listing trips that were scheduled after Thursday at 10:00 a.m. with the reason for the late posting of each trip. Extra Curricular/Field Trips. When drivers are on extracurricular trips, they will be paid from the time they leave the gate until they return upon completion of the trip and complete the post trip inspection. (Cleaning, fueling etc.) The rate of pay shall be an hourly rate as established by the Board of Trustees. If the driver arrives at the yard to begin preparation for the trip and the trip is canceled by the school, the driver will receive a minimum of (2) two hours pay.
