Flexible Personal Days. All bargaining unit members with one year of benefit eligible employment or greater will have three (3) float holidays and two (2) sick leave days converted to Flexible Personal Days. Thereafter, on an annual basis they will have five Flexible Personal Days. These days will be administered and used per the National Agreement language covering attendance. For new employees with less than one year of service determination of Flexible Personal Days will be worked out prior to implementation of the National Attendance Program/language in 2006. The parties agree to fair and equitable treatment of this group relative to this issue.

Sick Leave Benefit. There are two types of sick leave benefits. Annual Sick Leave is the sick leave days credited each year to each employee in accordance with the provisions of the local collective bargaining agreements. Banked Sick Leave is previously accumulated unused sick leave to which unused Annual Sick Leave may be added at the end of each anniversary year. Annual Sick Leave. Employees will be credited with their entire annual allotment of sick leave days provided in the local collective bargaining agreements at the beginning of the pay period in which each employee’s anniversary date of hire falls. For purposes of Annual Sick Leave days, in cases where an employee’s anniversary date of hire has been adjusted, the “leave accrual service date” will be used. Special Note for Part-time Employees. Part-time employees’ Annual Sick Leave will be credited proportionately, based on scheduled hours. Throughout the year (no more frequently than quarterly) the credited Annual Sick Leave will be adjusted based on actual compensated hours. This will ensure that employees who work, on average, more hours than they are scheduled will receive proper Annual Sick Leave credit.

Flexible Personal Days. 2179 A Registered Nurse is provided with forty (40) hours of Flexible Personal Days (FPD) (prorated for a part-time Registered Nurse) of FPD at the beginning of the payroll calendar year. FPD may be used for any reason the Registered Nurse chooses without restriction and may be used for less than a full day. In the event a Registered Nurse elects to utilize FPD in conjunction with Vacation, those FPD may be granted only after the Vacation selection process outlined in this Article. The FPD will, insofar as possible, be granted on the day (s) most desired by the Registered Nurse. FPD, accrued but not used, are paid out, prorated if applicable, upon termination, retirement, or transfer to an ineligible status. Requests for non-emergency FPD must be made forty eight (48) hours in advance (not including days that a department or work area is closed) for the Registered Nurse to obtain approval to utilize FPD. A Registered Nurse will have preference as to his/her choice based upon departmental seniority. FPD requests will be considered for anytime of the calendar year and shall be granted in an emergency situation. FPD may be donated to another benefited employee, in accordance with the Employer’s policy. 2180 Unused FPD hours at the end of year are rolled over in the Registered Nurse’s Vacation Account. FPD hours deposited into the Registered Nurse’s Vacation Account shall remain in the Vacation Account for the Registered Nurse’s use as vacation time.
