General Professional Duties. Each teacher shall, to the extent required for the proper discharge of his professional obligations, participate in such other professional activities as have customarily been performed by teachers employed by the Board, including up to three (3) school-related events normally held outside the regular school day at which attendance will be mandatory, exclusive of those professional obligations set forth in Schedule C, provided that the Administration will give reasonable notice of each such event. It is understood and agreed that special notice of professional obligations included in Schedule C will not be required.
General Professional Duties. Although the parties recognize that the commitment of an employee cannot be measured merely by time, the compensation set forth on Schedule “A” for regular professional duties is based on a regular full-time employee duty day of 15 (fifteen) minutes prior to the start of student day and 10 (ten) minutes after (inclusive of 30 [thirty] minute duty free lunch). Full time certified employees shall be required to be on duty, at their workstations, 15 minutes before the beginning of the student day and 10 minutes after the end of the student day.

In addition to the foregoing professional duties, each employee shall, to the extent required for the proper discharge of his/her professional obligations, participate in faculty, departmental and curriculum meetings, staff development programs, student activity assignments, parent- employee and student-employee conferences, professional development and such other professional activities as may reasonably be required.

Each teacher shall, to the extent required for the proper discharge of his professional obligations, participate in faculty, departmental and curriculum meetings (including NCA, No Child Left Behind and Education Yes! meetings) in-service training programs, homeroom assignments; student-teacher, parent-teacher, and administrator-teacher conferences; and such other professional activities as heretofore performed by the teachers or as may reasonably be required. Bus duty shall not be considered to be a duty to be performed by teachers.
General Professional Duties. Each teacher shall be available up to four (4) hours per month for additional professional duties. These duties shall include faculty meetings, departmental meetings, in-service training programs, open house, parent/teacher and student/teacher conferences and such other professional activities as may reasonably be required.
1. The present duty time required in Article 2, Section I will be structured so it may qualify as Professional Development under Section 1527 of the Revised School Code. This duty time will also include time for voluntary participation in School Improvement Teams.
2. The Building Principal is empowered to employ and enforce these guidelines.
3. Teachers who have conflicts with professional duties (especially for student/teacher interaction activities within the District) meet the contractual agreement by attending professional activities as long as possible. If the District has reasonable cause to question a teacher's absence, the District may require the teacher to explain the absence.
4. The request for any deviation from full attendance be approved by the Principal prior to the meeting and that the Department Head be professionally notified before the meeting time.

In addition to the foregoing professional duties, each employee shall, to the extent required for the proper discharge of his/her professional obligations, participate in faculty, departmental and curriculum meetings, staff development programs, student activity assignments, parent-employee and student-employee conferences, professional development and such other professional activities as may reasonably be required. Except in the case of an emergency, faculty meetings, when required, may be called upon reasonable prior notice and shall ordinarily: A. Not exceed one (1) hour in length, and B. Be held on the second Tuesday of the month.
General Professional Duties. A. Teachers will attend nine (9) general teacher's meetings per instructional year. Teachers will be given at least five (5) days advance notice of such meetings, which will include meeting start time. Meetings shall be no longer than one hour in length. At the discretion of the building principal an additional abbreviated meeting (30 minutes) may be called during the school year.
B. In addition to the foregoing professional duties, each teacher shall, to the extent required for the proper discharge of his/her professional obligations, participate in departmental and curriculum meetings, student activity assignments, parent-teacher and student-teacher conferences, and such other professional activities as may reasonably be required during the school day.
C. Those meetings, which may be called outside of the regular working day, shall have prior approval from the Administration and the Executive Board of the Association with the exception of parent conferences, which are considered a part of the teacher’s obligation and responsibility.
D. Teachers will not be required to attend more than four (4) school functions per year, including but not limited to, PTA/PTO meetings, Christmas programs, school carnival, open house, and concerts. Teachers will not be required to attend school functions on Saturday or Sunday. It is the responsibility of each building principal, at the beginning of each school year, to inform building staff of events at which attendance is required.
E. Attendance by teachers is mandated for individualized education planning committee meetings and Section 504 meetings. Every effort will be made to schedule such meetings during the school day. Attendance at other times may be required.
F. Workshops/Conferences/Professional Development held during regularly scheduled school days. Recognizing that the amount of time teachers are out of the classroom when students are present should be minimized, the following guidelines will be followed unless the TREA President and Superintendent agree to an extension. Teachers serving on the School Improvement Team, ELA curriculum/mapping committee and Math curriculum/mapping committee shall be allowed a maximum of ten (10) days. All other teachers will be allowed a maximum of five (5) days.
