JURY DUTY AND TESTIMONY. Upon certification from the Commissioner of Jurors, NFTA agrees to pay all employees summoned to serve on jury duty the difference between the fees they receive and their regular straight time rate. It is understood that the aforementioned compensation shall be paid to all employees who will be assigned by NFTA to the day and evening shifts during the period of jury service. In any litigation involving testimony on behalf of the NFTA, the NFTA will pay an employee his/her regular pay for all time lost from work as a witness in a court or other administrative proceeding. This provision will not be applicable to an employee who is a party to the action or proceeding.

It is understood that the aforementioned compensation shall be paid to all Employees who will be assigned by the Employer to the day and evening shift during the period of jury service. Employees will report to work prior to or subsequent to the performance of their jury duty on the same day if the complete day is not all credited to jury duty. In any litigation involving testimony on behalf of the Employer, the Employer will pay an Employee his/her regular pay for all time lost from work as a witness in a court or other administrative proceeding unrelated to the Employer.

An employee will inform his/her supervisor when notified of a jury summons and will cooperate in requesting a postponement of service if warranted by business demands.

  • Jury Duty 31.1 An employee who is summoned for jury duty and is required to lose time from his assignment as a result thereof, shall be paid for actual time lost with a maximum of one basic day's pay at the straight time rate of his position for each day lost, less the amount allowed him for jury duty for each such day excluding allowances paid by the court for meals, lodging or transportation, subject to the following requirements and limitations:

  • Jury Duty and Court Appearances (1) An employee who is summoned as a member of a jury panel or subpoenaed as a witness in a matter not involving the employee's personal interests, shall be granted leave with pay and any jury or witness fees shall be retained by the employee; leave granted hereunder shall not affect an employee's annual or sick leave balance.

  • Jury Duty and Witness Leave During the time an employee is actually reporting to the court for jury duty and following receipt of "Certificate of Jury Service" (Jury Form 4), the Department Head or his/her designate will convert the employee's usual shift to a regular five-day Monday through Friday day-shift basis. Any person holding a permanent position ordered to serve on a jury shall be entitled to his/her regular pay provided the employee deposits his/her fees for service, other than mileage, with the County Treasurer. Whenever any full-time permanent employee is required to be absent from work by a proper subpoena, issued by a court or commission legally empowered to subpoena witnesses, which compels the employee's presence as a witness, unless the employee is a party or an expert witness, the employee shall be allowed the time necessary to be absent from work at the employee's regular pay to comply with such subpoena, provided the employee deposits any witness fees, except mileage, with the County Treasurer.

  • Jury or Witness Duty An employee who is not a party to the action and who is absent in compliance with a summons for jury duty or a subpoena requiring the employee to appear in court as a witness shall be excused with pay for the period during which the employee is absent on scheduled days because of such jury service or court appearance. When an employee is excused from jury or witness duty for part of a day or for an entire day, the employee shall report to his or her supervisor in person or by telephone for an assignment.

  • Jury Duty and Court Appearance 11.4.1 When summoned to serve on a jury; when subpoenaed as a witness in criminal proceedings, or as a witness in a civil action if not a party thereto; when appearing as a defendant in a criminal or traffic case if acquitted therefrom; the employee, to qualify for permission from the Xxxx/delegate to be absent with pay, shall produce the summons or subpoena or submit such other evidence showing the necessity for court appearance.
