Layoff Definition. Layoff shall be defined as a reduction in the number of non-probationary nurses and/or a reduction to the FTE of nurses covered by this agreement that is intended to be permanent or prolonged.
Layoff Definition. Layoff shall be defined as a reduction in the number of positions covered by this Agreement that is intended to be permanent or prolonged. Layoff will be in reverse order of seniority, i.e., last hired is first to be laid off. In the event an employee covered by this Agreement accepts a permanent position at the UWPD that is not covered by this Agreement and subsequently returns to the bargaining unit, bargaining unit seniority shall be restored (bridged) and seniority accrual shall resume. Employees who qualify to bridge seniority may exercise their former seniority to obtain a bargaining unit position, if laid off from a current UWPD position.
Layoff Definition. Layoff shall be defined as the elimination of a position or a reduction in the number of hours. In the event the employee cannot accept an increase in hours, then the employee shall be laid off and the position posted. The parties agree that employees employed to relieve absent regular employees and for temporary workload relief shall not be considered as being laid off at the end of their assignment. They shall revert to their former position unless the employee was in the layoff position previous to accepting the temporary position.

In the event of a reduction of the working forces for lack of work, lack of funds or abolishment of position(s), the reduction will be made within the job classifications affected on the basis of bargaining unit seniority in accordance with the following procedure. The Employer will end the employment of all temporary and new hire probationary employees in the classification within the unit/department where a job abolishment is planned to occur.
Layoff Definition. Layoff shall be defined as follows: Termination of employment due to economic setback, inoperable facilities, a decrease in the work load, other conditions that reasonably require a reduction in force. Economic setbacks necessitating layoff include the following:
A. Enrollment decline
B. Failure of a special levy or other events resulting in reduction in revenue C. Termination or reduction of funding of categorical projects.
Layoff Definition. In the event that a reduction in personnel and/or positions is necessary, as determined by the Ingham County Board of Commissioners, layoffs will be by positions (classification) within a department. As a result of a position(s) being eliminated, as stated above, the employee in that position, within that classification, within a seniority group, within an employment status group, within a department, shall be laid off. The EMPLOYER shall determine which employment status groups shall be affected by the elimination of a position(s).

2. Probationary Full-time Employees
3. Seniority Full-time Employees All layoffs shall be in inverse order of date of full-time hire.
C. Employees to be laid off for an indefinite period of time will be given at least fourteen (14) calendar days’ notice of layoff. The Union xxxxxxx will receive a list from the Employer of the Employees being laid off on the same date the notices are issued to the Employee(s).
D. An Employee's seniority shall accrue during layoff but not to exceed double the Employee's seniority at the time of layoff, and in no event shall more than a maximum of two (2) years seniority accrue while any Employee is laid off. During layoff no benefits will accrue except longevity credit.
E. No full-time Employee shall be laid off while Paid-on-call/Part time/Temporary or Volunteer, etc., employees remain working.
