New Employee Union Orientation. A new employee will be provided with a copy of the Collective Agreement, and will be introduced to her/his job xxxxxxx as part of her/his orientation to the department. In addition, the Corporation agrees that a representative of the Union will be given an opportunity to address collectively, on a once per month basis (if required), all new bargaining unit employees to a department during regular working hours, without loss of pay, for a period of up to one (1) hour. The purpose of the meeting is to acquaint new employees with the benefits and duties of Union membership and employees’ responsibilities and obligations to the Corporation and the Union. The time and location of the meeting will be subject to approval by management.

If a work-location orientation is not feasible, the union shall be offered 60 minutes to conduct the orientation by electronic means or as part of the district’s orientation agenda.

The meeting will not cause the employee to neglect their work or interfere with building activities or events in progress.

The Hospital will furnish the Union the names and addresses of all newly hired bargaining unit employees showing date of hire. A representative of the Meriter Hospital Nurses Council shall be granted thirty (30) minutes without loss of pay for Union orientation during every orientation class for bargaining unit employees. The content of this presentation and any materials which the Union wishes to distribute will be reviewed upon the Employer’s request. The Union agrees to notify the Hospital in advance in writing of any changes made in the materials. No material detrimental to the Employer or the Union shall be presented. If a Union representative is unable to attend the scheduled session, the Employer agrees to distribute the approved materials. Employees may voluntarily choose to attend this session.
New Employee Union Orientation. At new employee orientations there shall be set aside a time consistent with Vermont statute for a representative of the Union to discuss Union membership and the Union contract with all bargaining unit employees in attendance. Bargaining unit employees who request to opt out shall not be required to participate. The Union Co-presidents, or designee, shall have one hour of paid time per week to attend these orientations. Interpreters will be provided if needed and if available.
New Employee Union Orientation. With prior supervisor approval regarding when the employees can take time from work duties, a designated union representative shall receive 30 minutes on paid time to conduct a new member orientation, provided the time does not unreasonably detract from their work performance.
