PAID LEAVE SICK LEAVE. Definitions: Covered family members include the employee’s spouse, same-gender domestic partner (as described in ORS 106.300 to 106.340), biological child, adopted child, xxxxxxxxx, xxxxxx child, same-gender domestic partner’s child, parent, adoptive parent, stepparent, xxxxxx parent, parent-in-law, same-gender domestic partner’s parent, grandparent, grandchild, and any individual with whom an employee has or had an in loco parentis* relationship. *Persons “in loco parentis” are those with day-to-day responsibilities to care for or financially support a child, or who had such responsibility for the employee when the employee was a child. Family shall be defined as teacher’s (or spouse/partner) mother, father, spouse, child, brother, sister, grandparents, grandchildren, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law and anyone who lives in the household.

PAID LEAVE SICK LEAVE. 1. Any teacher employed on a full-time basis shall be entitled to four (4) days of sick leave at the beginning date of first employment, during each contract year. Thereafter, full-time teachers shall accrue one (1) day of sick leave for each month of employment which shall be credited to the teacher at the end of the month, and which may not be used prior to the time it is earned and credited to the teacher. No teacher may earn more than one (1) day of sick leave times the number of months of employment during the regular school year. However, teachers employed on an 11 month or 12- month contract shall earn one (1) additional day of sick leave for each month of full-time employment. Any leave charged against accrued sick leave shall be with full compensation. Permanent part-time teachers shall accrue leave on the same basis as full-time teachers, adjusted to the number of hours they teach. Such leave shall be taken only when the person is unable to perform his/her duty during the regular school year because of personal illness or illness or death of father, mother, brother, sister, husband, wife, child, or other close relative by blood relationship of affinity or member of his/her household. Full-time teachers may utilize accrued sick leave for pregnancy. The School Board may withhold the average daily amount for any sick leave days used but not earned by the employee if the employee terminates employment. 2. A claim for sick leave shall be filed through the Administrator to the Superintendent, by no later than five (5) calendar days after the teacher returns to duty. The claim shall be in writing and shall set forth days absent. It shall be duly signed by the claimant certifying that the facts are true and correct and that the claim is valid and legal. 3. Teachers shall be entitled to transfer sick leave credit from the most recent place of employment in other Florida School Districts and the Department of Education provided that the days transferred in do does not exceed days earned in Wakulla School District.

A doctor’s certificate may be required upon an employee’s return from an absence. One day will be granted up front to each staff member eligible for sick time in July of each year. Then additional sick leave will be earned at the rate of one (1) day (based on normally scheduled hours per day) per calendar month for full-time employees and part-time employees normally scheduled to work 52 weeks a year. Part-time employees scheduled to work less than 52 weeks a year and temporary employees are not eligible for sick leave. Section 2. Each employee is responsible for contacting his/her supervisor as soon as practically possible, preferably before the start of their work day, whenever s/he cannot come to work due to an illness. The supervisor will contact Human Resources to input the absence into the District’s time off request system (i.e. “Aesop” as of the commencement of this Agreement) and will contact the building administration to assist with finding coverage for an absent lead custodian.

  • Paid Sick Leave For those jurisdictions that have passed or will pass legislation requiring Paid Sick Leave, Paid Sick Time will be billed back to Client at the straight-time bill rate for all hours taken by any Consultant assigned to Client. This section is not applicable until the effective date of such legislation has been reached.

An employee who is eligible may apply for Employment Insurance for weeks three (3) through seventeen (17) for any absence due to a legitimate illness. The Home will provide the employee with Disability Income Protection as per Article 14.01 (c) for weeks eighteen (18) through thirty (30) for any absence due to a legitimate illness. Employees may be required to provide medical proof of illness for any absence of a scheduled shift, which is neither vacation nor an approved leave of absence.
