Personal or Professional Leave. 13.7.1 A Unit Member may be granted an unpaid leave of absence for personal or professional reasons. Such leaves of absence may be for professional or personal matters for which there is no other leave provision or for which other leave provisions have been exhausted. Such unpaid leaves may include, but are not limited to, leaves for personal health, family concerns, professional development, and other personal or professional needs. As such leaves are unpaid, if denied, the District must show reason that such leave will threaten serious determent to, or termination of, campus programs. 13.7.1.1 Unpaid leaves of absence are available for one (1) semester or for one (1) school year. Emergency unpaid leaves of absence may be granted for other periods of time. 13.7.1.2 Requests for consideration for unpaid leaves are to be submitted to the Immediate Management Supervisor not less than one (1) month prior to the requested effective date of the beginning of the unpaid leave of absence. Leaves may be considered that are submitted in lesser periods of lead time should compelling reasons be evidenced for which the recipient would have been reasonably unaware at an earlier date. 13.7.1.3 The Immediate Management Supervisor, within five (5) days of application, shall make a recommendation to the President/Xxxxxxx or designee for approval or denial of the unpaid leave of absence request and shall notify the Unit Member of the recommendation. The President/Xxxxxxx or designee shall, within five (5) days of receipt of the Immediate Management Supervisor’s recommendation, approve or deny the request for unpaid leave of absence. Approval by the President/Xxxxxxx or designee shall be final if in favor of the applicant. Should the leave request be denied, the decision may be appealed in the following manner. 13.7.1.3.1 Within five (5) days of denial, the applicant may request that a committee of three (3) members be selected to review the request for the unpaid leave, selected as follows: 13.7.1.3.1.1 one Unit Member will be selected to serve by the individual requesting the leave; 13.7.1.3.1.2 one administrative member will be selected by the Immediate Management Supervisor; 13.7.1.3.1.3 one member will be appointed by the appropriate Academic Senate President. 13.7.1.3.2 The three (3) member committee shall, within ten (10) days after convening, forward to the President/Xxxxxxx a recommendation to grant or deny the request for an unpaid leave. 13.7.1.3.3 The President/Xx...

Personal or Professional Leave. Personal or professional leave of absence for teachers without pay for good cause shown may be granted for a period of up to one (1) year for personal or professional reasons. The failure to grant a personal or professional leave shall not be the basis for a grievance or subject to the grievance procedure. There shall be no experience or salary credit and accumulated sick leave shall be frozen at the current level; however, seniority shall not accrue. A second year of leave may be granted. If a teacher accepts employment while on personal or professional leave, the teacher will notify the Board of Education immediately. The Board shall have the right to re-evaluate leave.
Personal or Professional Leave. At the Employer’s discretion, employees may be granted paid or unpaid personal or professional leave in situations other than those specifically enumerated in this Agreement. The overriding consideration for granting or denying leave requests shall be the needs of the Employer as determined by the Director or designee. Permission for leave shall be requested in writing and shall be considered granted only if confirmed in writing. Such confirmation or denial shall be given to the employee no later than four weeks from the date of request.
Personal or Professional Leave. A Staff Musician may request a leave of absence, without pay. Employer may grant or refuse such requests, but will not arbitrarily or unreasonably refuse such requests.

  • Professional Leave Professional leave without pay will be granted to full-time and regular part-time Nurses who are elected to the College of Nurses to attend regularly scheduled meetings of the College of Nurses. Professional leave without pay will be granted to Registered Nurses who are elected to the RNAO to attend regularly scheduled meetings. Professional leave without pay will be granted to Registered Practical Nurses who are elected to the RPNAO to attend regularly scheduled meetings.

  • Paid Personal Leave A.   • Unpaid Personal Leave Where an employee has exhausted all paid personal leave entitlements, they are entitled to take unpaid personal leave to care for members of their immediate family or household who are sick and require care and support or who require care due to an unexpected emergency. The employer and the employee shall agree on the period. In the absence of agreement, the employee is entitled to take up to two days (up to a maximum of 16 hours) of unpaid leave per occasion, provided the requirements of 7.2.5(a) and 7.2.5(b) are met.

  • Personal Leaves 8.11.4.1 As approved by the Board, personal leaves without pay may be granted in cases of exceptional need for up to six (6) months.   • Extended Personal Leave Leave without pay for up to one (1) year may be granted to a teacher provided said teacher has been actively employed for five (5) continuous contract years preceding the granting of this leave and has not been granted an extended part-time leave within that period. Application for said leave shall include a statement indicating the purpose of the leave and shall be submitted, except in unusual circumstances, as determined by the District, thirty (30) days prior to the date the leave is to commence.
