The Premium Time clause defines the conditions under which employees are entitled to receive additional compensation for working beyond standard hours. Typically, this clause specifies the rates paid for overtime, work on holidays, or during weekends, and outlines the qualifying criteria such as minimum hours or specific days. Its core function is to ensure fair compensation for extra work and to incentivize employees to cover shifts outside regular working hours, thereby addressing both employee welfare and operational needs.
Premium Time. Essential employees will not be paid premium or any additional compensation merely due to the fact that they are required to work during an emergency shut- down. However, other collective bargaining agreement provisions, which apply independent of emergency shut-down situations, will continue to be enforced. It is the policy of the County that employees whose positions are deemed essential shall be required to work during emergency shut-downs as part of their duties as a County employee.
Premium Time. (a) Overtime will mean any work performed outside of an employee’s scheduled work. Employees working in excess of eight (8) hours in a day shall be paid eight (8) hours at regular rate and time and one-half (1 1/2) for all time worked in excess of eight (8) hours exclusive of reporting time. Work performed by an employee on a spare Board, shall not be considered overtime until the employee has worked at least eight (8) hours in a day, or forty (40) hours in a week. (b) Overtime will be compensated at a rate of time and one-half (1 1/2) the regular rate, except on a Statutory Holiday, when the rate will be two (2) times the regular rate. (c) Overtime for employees on a Special will be calculated on an accumulation of forty (40) hours in any weekly pay period. The number of hours worked at ordinary rates in any one (1) week will not exceed forty- two (42) hours. The overtime rate will apply to all hours worked in excess of this amount. All time worked in excess of the regularly scheduled daily hours for a Special will be paid at time and one-half (1 1/2).

Premium Time. Time and one-half will be paid for all hours worked in excess of 40 in a week. Double time will be paid for all hours worked on MTMUA official holidays. Double time will be paid for work on Sundays provided it is the seventh consecutive day worked in that payroll week. In the manner, Sunday will be considered the seventh consecutive day worked. In no case will more than double time be paid for any time worked.
