Preservation of Rates. 21.1 Employees temporarily assigned to higher rated positions shall receive the higher rate while occupying such positions. A temporary assignment to a higher rated position contemplates the fulfilment of the duties and responsibilities of the position during the time occupied. Assisting higher rated employees due to a temporary increase in the volume of work or for training purposes does not constitute a temporary assignment to a higher rated position. A regularly assigned employee temporarily assigned to a lower rated position shall not have his/her rate reduced.

Preservation of Rates. When an employee is required to perform the duties of another employee receiving the higher rate of pay, he shall receive the higher rate, but if required to fill temporarily the place of another employee receiving the lower rate of pay, the rate will not be changed.
Preservation of Rates. (a) Established positions will not be discontinued and new ones created under a different title covering the same class of work for the purpose of reducing the rate of pay. (b) Ten (10) days’ notice will be given employees concerned of the Company’s intention to abolish any regularly assigned position or positions except in the event of a strike or work stoppage by employees in the railway industry, a shorter notice may be given.

Preservation of Rates. 10.01 The maximum step level established for additional positions in existing classifications will be comparable to those of other positions in the classification performing work with the same level of complexity and responsibility. * 10.02 When a change in the maximum step level of any existing and/or new position or classification is proposed, the work of the position or classification affected will be reviewed and compared with the duties and responsibilities of comparable positions or classifications by the proper officer of the Company and the Local Union President with the object of reaching an agreement on revised rates to maintain uniformity for positions or classifications of which the duties and responsibilities are relatively the same.

Preservation of Rates. 16.01 When an Employee is temporarily called upon to do the work of another classification which is lower than his/her own, such Employee shall be paid at his/her current rate of pay. a) Where an Employee is required to substantially perform for a period of one (1) day or more, the duties of a higher position than the one held by him/her and to which this Agreement applies, he/she shall be paid acting pay during that temporary period calculated as if he/she had been appointed to the higher position and paid not later than the pay period immediately following the pay period in which the duties were performed. b) Appendix A, Level 6, where an employee is required to act as team leader in the supervisor position the employee will be entitled to the $1.00 supervisory differential. The provision regarding acting pay will not be applicable in cases where the duties of a higher position are performed for the purpose of training or retraining. c) If an Employee is temporarily assigned to a higher classification or position not covered by this Agreement, the Employee shall receive acting pay, subject to Article 16.02 (a). 16.03 On each pay day each Employee shall be provided with an itemized statement of his/her salary, clearly indicating overtime, separate deductions and other supplementary items. For Employees set out in Appendix B: a) Subject to satisfactory performance of duties, an Employee who is not being paid at the maximum in his/her scale of rates shall be granted a salary increment on the anniversary date of his/her classification, or such other date(s) as may be mutually agreed upon between the parties, of each succeeding year until the maximum rate is achieved. b) Where a salary increment and a salary revision are effected on the same date, the salary increment shall be applied first and the resulting rate shall be revised in accordance with the salary revision. a) Where an Employee is promoted to a classification one level higher he/she shall be paid at a point on the new pay scale which provides him/her with an increase of not less than three hundred dollars ($300.00) b) Where an Employee is promoted to a classification two or more levels higher, he/she shall be paid at a point on the new pay scale which provides him/her with an increase of not less than five hundred dollars ($500.00) 16.06 Where an Employee in the classification of Engineering Technologist 1 has accumulated a minimum of two (2) years experience after having attained the PTech or equ...
