PSYCHOTHERAPY SERVICES. Psychotherapy is not easily described in general statements. It varies depending on the personalities of the psychotherapist and patient, and the particular problems you are experiencing. There are many different methods I may use to deal with the problems that you hope to address. Psychotherapy is not like a medical doctor visit. Instead, it calls for a very active effort on your part. In order for the therapy to be most successful, you will have to work on things we talk about both during our sessions and at home. Psychotherapy can have benefits and risks. Since therapy often involves discussing unpleasant aspects of your life, you may experience uncomfortable feelings like sadness, guilt, anger, frustration, loneliness, and helplessness. On the other hand, psychotherapy has also been shown to have many benefits. Therapy often leads to better relationships, solutions to specific problems, and significant reductions in feelings of distress. But there are no guarantees of what you will experience. Our first few sessions will involve an evaluation of your needs. By the end of the evaluation, I will be able to offer you some first impressions of what our work will include and a treatment plan to follow, if you decide to continue with therapy. You should evaluate this information along with your own opinions of whether you feel comfortable working with me. Therapy can involve a large commitment of time, money, and energy, so you should be very careful about the therapist you select. If you have questions about my procedures, we should discuss them whenever they arise. If your doubts persist, I will be happy to help you set up a meeting with another mental health professional for a second opinion.

PSYCHOTHERAPY SERVICES. Therapy is a relationship between people that works in part because of clearly defined rights and responsibilities held by each person. I, as your therapist, have corresponding responsibilities to you. These rights and responsibilities are described in the following sections. Psychotherapy has both benefits and risks. Risks may include experiencing uncomfortable feelings, such as sadness, guilt, anxiety, anger, frustration, loneliness and helplessness, because the process of psychotherapy often requires discussing the unpleasant aspects of your life. However, psychotherapy has been shown to have benefits for individuals who undertake it. Therapy often leads to a significant reduction in feelings of distress, increased satisfaction in interpersonal relationships, greater personal awareness and insight, increased skills for managing stress and resolutions to specific problems. But, there are no guarantees about what will happen. Psychotherapy requires a very active effort on your part. In order to be most successful, you will have to work on things we discuss outside of sessions. The first 1-2 sessions will involve a comprehensive evaluation of your needs. At that point, we will discuss your treatment goals and create an initial treatment plan. You should evaluate this information and make your own assessment about whether you feel comfortable working with me. If you have questions about my procedures, we should discuss them whenever they arise. If your doubts persist, I will be happy to help you set up a meeting with another mental health professional for a second opinion. Appointments will ordinarily be 55 minutes in duration, once per week at a time we agree upon, although some sessions may be more or less frequent as needed. The time scheduled for your appointment is assigned to you and you alone. If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, I ask that you provide me with 24 hours notice. If you miss a session without canceling, or cancel with less than 24 hour notice, my policy is to collect the full amount for the session. PSYCHOTHERAPY SERVICES. Counseling is not an exact science and varies depending on a client’s personality and the particular concern a client is presenting. There are many different approaches to therapy. Psychotherapy calls for active participation the part of the client. For therapy to be successful, it will require a client to work towards changes in their life. Counseling can lead to better relationships, solutions to specific problems, and reductions in feelings of distress. I cannot guarantee you will experience these results but will work with you to try to bring those about. Therapy can also bring up painful and disturbing discussions. If you should need emergency mental health services, you will be expected to contact a crisis center or dial 9-1-1. You can contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (0-000-000-0000); or for a list of local crisis numbers you can go to xxx.xxxxxxxxx.xxx/xxxxxxx/xxxxxx-xxxxxxxxx.xxxx to retrieve that information. On our first session, we will discuss your needs and your goals from counseling. You should evaluate if I am the right fit for you and if you feel comfortable working with me. If at any time, you are dissatisfied or have concerns, you agree that you will discuss those with me. It is important that you are confident I am facilitating your needs. If you do not feel I am the right fit for you, I will give you a referral to another therapist.
PSYCHOTHERAPY SERVICESThe primary goals of therapy are to identify possible solutions for specific problems and to increase one’s sense of well-being, but there are no guaranteed results. Therapy places an emphasis on raising consciousness, reflection, education, self-awareness, support systems, and problem-solving skills. Therapy generally helps individuals to grow, feel better about themselves given current circumstances or to change their circumstances. The first session is considered a consultation for us both to collect information, assess your strengths, needs, and the situation. If we need to schedule a second consultation session, that can be arranged. During this time, we can both decide if I am the best person to provide the services you are seeking in order to meet your goals. If we determine that therapy is unnecessary or other service options are appropriate, information and alternative resources will be provided. PROFESSIONAL FEES – Individuals, Couples & Families. My fee for therapy services is $190.00 per session for individuals, $225.00 per session for couples & families.
PSYCHOTHERAPY SERVICES. Psychotherapy varies depending on the therapist, the client and the client’s challenges and goals. My therapeutic orientation is strength based and solution focused which means that I will highlight your posi- tive skills as well as addressing your concerns. There are several techniques and approaches that can be used to manage your issues. In order for therapy to have the best outcome, you will need to work both during our session and at home.
PSYCHOTHERAPY SERVICES. Psychotherapy is a broad term, and describes a process that varies depending on the clients and therapist involved. There are many different techniques and methods I may use depending on your needs and goals. Therapy is an active process on your part as well; it will not be helpful for you if you do not take action both in and outside of sessions. Psychotherapy can have both benefits and risks. At times we will discuss some difficult aspects of your life, which can lead to feeling uncomfortable emotions such as sadness, anxiety, guilt, anger, loneliness, hurt, or helplessness. Therapy is a process, and my job is to facilitate that process in a way that will help you. Therapy has also been shown to have many benefits. These benefits can include improved relationships, solutions to specific problems, and significant reductions in feelings of distress - such as depression or anxiety. There are no guarantees for what you will experience; please feel free to discuss any concerns you may have with me regarding your experience at any time. There are three primary stages in therapy. In the first stage, I will be gathering information as I get to know you and we identify a plan for your treatment. This assessment phase can vary in length, though it typically takes at least 3-4 sessions. The second stage varies the most in length. This is the stage where most of the work of therapy is done and we will be addressing each of your goals. I will continue gathering information throughout treatment, but the focus here will be more on change and exploring areas of your life to make progress. The final stage of therapy, the termination phase, is where we make preparations for you to complete your therapy. At this point, you should feel successful in reaching your goals satisfactorily. While it is often both exciting and difficult to contemplate completing therapy, we will take this in steps to help you continue your success outside of therapy. We will review the therapy process and identify ways for you to continue progressing upon completion. Many clients find it difficult to complete this phase; I recommend to my clients to both be honest with yourself and me in how you are feeling regarding the end of treatment, as well as to give yourself the time to process the end of treatment carefully. This phase may only take a couple sessions, or it may be useful to stretch out the time and sessions to help you adjust. I received my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from the ...

As progress is best gained through consistent sessions, I recommend that clients arrange appointments 1-2 times a week as needed. Your session rate also covers telephone check- ins as needed and consultations with other professionals on your therapeutic team. For those seeking full or partial reimbursement for sessions, I will provide monthly Super Bills / statements for you to submit. It is important that you understand your insurance company’s reimbursement policies and that the contract for reimbursement is between you and your insurance company.
