Reclassified Positions. If the position is reclassified, the following procedure will apply:
a) The incumbent shall be appointed to the position subject to notification and challenge.
b) The reclassification and the name of the incumbent will be circulated for information purposes.
c) The notification is subject to challenge from more senior employees within the work unit who could as readily have been assigned the duties which led to the reclassification.
d) The Executive Director shall decide the validity of challenges, subject to grievance.
e) If a challenge is successful, the challenger shall be appointed and the incumbent prior to the challenge shall be laid off and shall exercise the options in Article 7.2.
f) The reclassification and any resulting change in pay shall be effective the nearest first of the month to the employee’s request for review.
Reclassified Positions. (a) Reclassification occurs when the review of a position with an incumbent(s) by the Job Review Committee results in (a) a grade change; or (b) movement within the same point band for the position.
(b) In those cases in which the review results in the accumulation of sufficient points to warrant a change from one grade to a higher one, the Employee’s salary will be placed in Step 1 of the new salary range. If this does not result in an increase, the Employee will be placed in the next step in the range which is greater than the Employee’s current salary by more than $500. Progression to the Job Rate shall thereafter follow the same procedures as for new hires.
(c) If it is determined, through a review of a job, that the points that have been awarded are insufficient for movement out of the present grade, no salary adjustment will be made.
(d) In those cases in which an Employee’s position is found to be improperly placed and belongs in a lower grade, the Employee’s salary shall be grand-parented.
(e) When reclassification results in a higher salary grade, but the Employee’s salary still exceeds the Job Rate of the new salary grade, the Employee’s salary shall continue to be grandparented.
Reclassified Positions. Where there is a vacant position and the College reclassifies a position by revising the position duties with the intent to effect a status change and/or a change in the salary band , the College will, as soon as it is practical to do so:
Reclassified Positions. An incumbent whose bargaining unit position has been reclassified shall not be required to bid on the reclassified position, provided that they meet the minimum qualifications of the position. Furthermore, the incumbent shall automatically be placed in the reclassified position provided that the aforementioned conditions are met.

a. Provide to the Union President, the same information as outlined in ‘b’ below.

Provide existing employees in the immediate work group in which the position resides with a copy of the revised job description, highlight for those employees the intended changes in the position, and provide those employees with an opportunity to share their perspective with regard to such changes. In a case where such changes to the job description result in a change of salary band, then the procedures set out in Article 8.04 “Salaries for New Positions” will be followed.
Reclassified Positions. 13.01 When the Employer wishes to reclassify current positions, the Employer will advise the Union in advance of the nature of the proposed reclassification and the proposed wage rate. Should the Union object to any aspect of the proposals, and the parties are unable to reach agreement in any dispute that may arise, such dispute shall be resolved in accordance with the Grievance Procedure. Any new wage rate shall be retroactive to the time the position was first filled by an employee.
13.02 Should a position be reclassified to a lower paid classification, the incumbent shall retain their existing wage rate and shall receive any negotiated economic increases.
13.03 If there is a dispute between the Employer and the Union as to whether the reclassified position is within or outside the scope of the bargaining unit, such shall first be the subject of negotiation. Failing settlement, the matter may be referred to the Labour Relations Board for adjudication.
13.04 If a position is reclassified, the incumbent shall remain in the position as reclassified.
13.05 Where the employer makes substantive change(s) to an existing position, the Employee or Union may refer the position for review. In the event the parties are unable to reach agreement, such dispute shall be resolved in accordance with the grievance procedure.
