Renewal of Appointments. 6.6.1 Limited Term Contracts should not exceed three (3) years. In the event that an extension beyond the initial contract is deemed necessary by the department and the VPAD, the VPAD will notify the Faculty Association. An individual shall be limited to four (4) years of total contract LTA employment. The number of contracts within that four-year limit may vary depending on the length of the initial contract.
Renewal of Appointments. 17.7.1 - Reappointments will be at the sole discretion of the University, except as abridged by this Agreement.
17.7.2 - If a GA is not offered renewal of appointment, the GA may request a meeting with and/or contact the hiring supervisor to discuss whether other employment opportunities exist for them based on their qualifications. The hiring supervisor will respond within working five
Renewal of Appointments. 23.9.1 A Term Certain appointment may be renewed provided that the specified circumstances in Article 23, Clause 23.2, continue to be present.
Renewal of Appointments. Assistants whose academic progress and service record have been determined to be satisfactory are eligible for reappointment at the sole discretion of the University, subject to the criteria provided for in Article III – Section G, based on the past performance and service of the assistant, availability of funds, the University’s determination of the need for service, or other factors. Departments have differing policies on the length of time students may hold assistantships and may limit the total number of semesters that an assistant may serve. In accordance with the University’s standard of excellence, assistants must maintain a high standard of performance in their duties in order for their assignments to be considered for renewal.

17.7.2 - The University will endeavor to provide as much notice as possible regarding any appointment or subsequent appointment. If a GA is not offered a subsequent appointment, they will be informed in writing, stating the reason for the non-renewal, no less than fifteen
Renewal of Appointments. (1) The appointment of tenured or permanent status faculty shall be renewed annually unless terminated for just cause subject to the limitations set forth in Article 27, Disciplinary Action and Job Abandonment. The terms of the renewal of the appointment shall be consistent with the appointment in which the faculty member was granted tenure or permanent status or prior renewal.
(2) Renewal of appointments, as well as other personnel decisions, shall be based on the effectiveness of the faculty member’s performance in the assigned duties as they related to the areas of teaching, research, and service, and the requirements of the department.
Renewal of Appointments. A. The parties agree that the decision to renew the appointment of a HSO is not subject to negotiation, and neither is it grievable through this collective bargaining agreement. However, the PHT shall take all administrative steps within its control to ensure that HSOs are notified of academic competency deficiencies as follows: This Section will address the process to be utilized when a HSO is not meeting academic expectations of a program:
a. HSOs with annual contracts shall be notified in writing no later than January 15, if their appointment is not to be renewed for the next year of a given residency program.
b. HSOs in jeopardy of receiving a letter of non-renewal will be given a Performance Improvement plan (PIP) where appropriate to address performance issues, in order to provide sufficient time to meet program expectations and show significant improvement in identified areas of deficiency. Performance Improvement Plans should be competency based. The ACGME requires certain programs to implement Independent Learning Plans. Although required by the ACGME for certain programs, Program Directors who lead programs not requiring Independent Learning Plans can involve the HSO to develop an Independent Learning Plan in lieu of a Performance Improvement Plan, where appropriate. This Independent Learning Plan is meant to first be created by the HSO as a self-reflection of their individual deficiencies that will be discussed and endorsed by the program director or designee. A Performance Improvement Plan and an Independent Learning Plan are simply feedback, and are not considered reportable actions. If the Program Director determines that a HSO is not meeting academic standards, or has failed to satisfactorily cure deficiencies, the Program Director may elect to take further action which may include one or more of the following steps:
i. Additional Performance Improvement Plan; or
Renewal of Appointments. The recommendation to the Xxxxxxx to renew or not renew an appointment prior to granting of continuous appointment is the prerogative of the Director of Library in consultation with the librarians holding continuous appointment in a meeting called for that purpose. The recommendation shall be subject to the approval of the Xxxxxxx. In cases where non-renewal is recommended, the librarian shall have the right to present his or her case in person to the Director of Library, if he or she has provided in writing to the appropriate offices, no later than ten (10) working days after notice of non-renewal of appointment, notice of his or her intention to appeal the recommendation. The affected librarian shall have the right to request the assistance of another bargaining unit member in presenting his or her case to the Director of Library. Renewal of Appointments the Assistantships are normally limited to a maximum of four semesters. The University may consider extending an appointment beyond the four-semester limit in exceptional circumstances. Students who wish to request an exception to the four-semester limit must submit a completed petition to the director of the Graduate Assistantship Program. GAs and TAs whose academic progress and service record have been determined to be satisfactory are eligible for reappointment.
