Rest Periods and Lunch. 1. Employees who are scheduled to work at least three and one-half hours per day shall be granted a fifteen-minute paid rest period. Employees who are scheduled to work beyond six hours per day shall be granted an additional, separate paid rest period. The rest period shall be scheduled whenever possible, near the middle of a shift. The Board may vary the scheduling of such rest period(s) when, in its opinion, the demands of work require such variance. The length of the break shall be prorated for employees who are scheduled to work more than eight hours per day. 2. No employee shall be scheduled to work more than three consecutive hours without a scheduled break. 3. Employees who are scheduled to work six or more continuous hours exclusive of the paid rest period shall be scheduled for a non-paid meal break of at least 30 minutes, provided this shall not be applicable to bus operators or monitors who work less than six continuous hours. The meal break shall be scheduled reasonably near the middle of the employee's workday. 4. The length of the paid rest period shall be prorated for employees who are scheduled to work a 10 hour duty day. Paid rest periods for a 10 hour duty day shall be 20 minutes and shall be as outlined in the paragraph above. Employees paid rest periods and unpaid meal breaks should be taken away from their desk or assigned work area. 5. If there are multiple classified staff working in the same department, a morning, afternoon paid rest period, along with a non-paid meal break schedule should be prepared and published so all staff are aware and can follow the schedule. 6. The Board shall provide a room or private area for use of all employees, during their lunch and break times. 7. School-based employees who support teachers may leave their worksites during lunch upon receiving permission from the principal. Other employees may leave their worksites during lunch at their discretion.

Rest Periods and Lunch. Section 50.1. There shall be two (2) fifteen (15) minute rest periods on each shift each work day. This time represents actual time away from the employee's duties. These rest periods will be scheduled during the middle two (2) hours of each half shift to the extent practicable, but they may not be scheduled immediately before or after the meal period or at the start or the end of a shift. Employees leaving the workplace or job site during a rest period must return and be ready to work within the fifteen (15) minutes allotted. Section 50.2. The lunch period for all employees of the bargaining unit shall be thirty (30) minutes, and should be scheduled at or near the middle of the employee's shift each workday. Section 50.3. All bargaining unit employees shall be provided with clean-up time. Those positions shall be permitted five (5) minutes of clean-up time abutting the start of their lunch period, and fifteen (15) minutes of clean-up time abutting the end of their shift.
Rest Periods and Lunch. 28 Shifts over four (4) consecutive hours shall receive a thirty (30) minute uncompensated lunch period as 29 near the middle of the shift as practicable but always after the second hour worked, unless the employee 30 agrees otherwise. Shifts of more than three (3) consecutive hours shall receive one (1) break period as 31 near the middle of the shift as practicable. Shifts of more than six (6) consecutive hours shall receive two 32 (2) break periods, which shall occur as near the middle of each shift as possible but always after the 33 second hour worked, unless the employee agrees otherwise. However, for late start and early release days 34 only, breaks may be scheduled before the second hour worked. Break periods shall be fifteen (15) 35 minutes in duration. At the beginning of each school year, each employee will be provided with a copy of 36 their schedule which shall include when break and lunch periods will be taken. 37
