School Assistants. (i) A Level 1 position is one where the Employee:
A. requires no previous experience and a limited range of skills are exercised;
B. is required to undertake only basic duties under close supervision; C. is not expected to demonstrate independent initiative and judgement;
School Assistants. Clerical and Administrative Staff, Canteen and Uniform Shop Staff and Wellbeing Services Staff
School Assistants.
(i) A Level 1 position is one where the Employee:
A. requires no previous experience and a limited range of skills are exercised;
B. is required to undertake only basic duties under close supervision;
C. is not expected to demonstrate independent initiative and judgement;
D. is not required to supervise other employees; and
E. may not assist students without at least a Level 3 School Assistant or teacher present.
(ii) A Level 2 position is one where the Employee:
A. has the experience and skills required to perform basic duties without technical instruction;
B. requires instruction for more complex tasks;
C. may be expected to demonstrate independent initiative and judgement;
D. is not required to supervise other employees; and
E. may not assist students without at least a Level 3 School Assistant or teacher present.
(iii) A Level 3 position is one where the Employee:
School Assistants. All grade level K-5 schools will be allotted a minimum of 50 hours of school assistant time per week. The assignment of school assistants will be made in an equitable manner based on need.
School Assistants. Levels 1 and 2;
School Assistants. Clerical and Administrative Employees;
School Assistants. (a) School Assistant - Level 1
(b) School Assistant - Level 2
(c) School Assistant - Level 3
(i) undertaken and acquired a formal post-secondary qualification at either TAFE or tertiary level relevant to the tasks required by the Employer for this Level; or
(ii) undertaken and satisfactorily completed extensive in- service training that is equivalent to the Employee having acquired a formal post-secondary qualification at either TAFE or tertiary level relevant to the tasks required by the Employer for this Level; or
(iii) significant and substantial technical and procedural knowledge that is equivalent to what the Employee would have acquired had he or she obtained a formal post- secondary qualification at either TAFE or tertiary level relevant to the tasks required by the Employer for this Level. • is regularly required to exercise independent initiative and judgment; • shall have responsibility and accountability for maintaining the quality of their own work and, where appropriate, the work of others; • receives limited instructions which relate specifically to matters of substance in the work assignment; • may assist teachers or other qualified members of staff with the conduct of one or more areas, such as laboratories, libraries and audio-visual units; • is competent in technical areas as required for the position; • possesses a knowledge of workplace procedures and of the practices required by the Employer including the ability to resolve complex operational problems relevant to the position; • may assist in planning future department or school organisational needs. An Employee at this level may be required by the Employer to undertake any of the indicative tasks required at Level 2 in addition to the following indicative duties: - preparation of complex laboratory experiments; - developing appropriate storage systems, including for dangerous and toxic substances; - assistance in the training of Employees at a lower level; - repair of equipment requiring technical knowledge and expertise; - providing in-service to teachers in specific technical or other areas; - supervision, training and co-ordination of school assistant staff; - and responsibility for their sufficient allocation and control; - researching reference material for teachers; - purchase of resources in conjunction with a teacher or other qualified member of staff.
(d) School Assistant - Level 4

School Assistants. Ordinary hours of work for full time School Assistants are 125 hours over a four- week period (i.e. an average of 62 hours 30 minutes per fortnight or 31 hours 15 minutes per week). Ordinary daily hours of work for School Assistants will usually be 6 hours 15 minutes per day with a 45-minute lunch break. Subject to clause 142.7 the 45-minute break may be taken in a combination of breaks agreed between the manager and employee. A manager and an employee may agree on a pattern of hours of work subject to hours of work averaging 62 hours 30 minutes per fortnight. For part-time employees, hours are those designated for the job or agreed in their part-time work agreement.
School Assistants. This Agreement does not cover a Principal or Deputy Principals (by whatever name called).
School Assistants. (i) A Level 1 position is one where the Employee:
A. requires no previous experience and a limited range of skills are exercised;
B. is required to undertake only basic duties under close supervision;
C. is not expected to demonstrate independent initiative and judgement;
D. is not required to supervise other Employees; and
E. may not assist students without at least a Level 3 School Assistant or teacher present.
(ii) A Level 2 position is one where the Employee:
A. has the experience and skills required to perform basic duties without technical instruction;
B. requires instruction for more complex tasks;
C. may be expected to demonstrate independent initiative and judgement;
D. is not required to supervise other employees; and
E. may not assist students without at least a Level 3 School Assistant or teacher present.
(iii) A Level 3 position is one where the Employee:
A. possesses technical competencies required for the position;
B. requires only limited instruction for the performance of complex duties;
C. is normally required to exercise independent initiative and judgement;
D. if required by the employer, may supervise up to three employees; and
E. may supervise a small group of children without a teacher present.
(iv) A Level 4 position is one where the Employee: A. possesses a knowledge of workplace practices and procedures including a detailed knowledge of complex procedures relevant to the position;
