School Assistants. (i) A Level 1 position is one where the Employee:
A. requires no previous experience and a limited range of skills are exercised;
B. is required to undertake only basic duties under close supervision; C. is not expected to demonstrate independent initiative and judgement;
School Assistants. Clerical and Administrative Staff, Canteen and Uniform Shop Staff and Wellbeing Services Staff
School Assistants.
(i) A Level 1 position is one where the Employee:
A. requires no previous experience and a limited range of skills are exercised;
B. is required to undertake only basic duties under close supervision;
C. is not expected to demonstrate independent initiative and judgement;
D. is not required to supervise other employees; and
E. may not assist students without at least a Level 3 School Assistant or teacher present.
(ii) A Level 2 position is one where the Employee:
A. has the experience and skills required to perform basic duties without technical instruction;
B. requires instruction for more complex tasks;
C. may be expected to demonstrate independent initiative and judgement;
D. is not required to supervise other employees; and
E. may not assist students without at least a Level 3 School Assistant or teacher present.
(iii) A Level 3 position is one where the Employee:
School Assistants. Clerical and Administrative Employees;
School Assistants. Ordinary hours of work for full time School Assistants are 125 hours over a four- week period (i.e. an average of 62 hours 30 minutes per fortnight or 31 hours 15 minutes per week). Ordinary daily hours of work for School Assistants will usually be 6 hours 15 minutes per day with a 45-minute lunch break. Subject to clause 142.7 the 45-minute break may be taken in a combination of breaks agreed between the manager and employee. A manager and an employee may agree on a pattern of hours of work subject to hours of work averaging 62 hours 30 minutes per fortnight. For part-time employees, hours are those designated for the job or agreed in their part-time work agreement.
School Assistants who would usually work on that day are entitled to a day off with pay.
School Assistants. 9-7.1. In schools where there are two or more school assistants assigned and present, if outside recess is scheduled and the principal determines that all school assistants are not needed for recess duty, the recess duties of the school assistants shall be rotated.
9-7.2. Effective July 1, 2008, all employees in the School Assistant I job titles, who are highly qualified as defined by the No Child Left Behind Act and applicable state and federal regulations, shall be reclassified to corresponding Teacher Assistant I job titles, and the affected employees in the School Assistant I job titles shall be placed on the appropriate step of Grade GB1 and shall retain their seniority for all purposes. Effective July 1, 2008, the minimum qualifications for all Teacher Assistant I job titles shall be a 9-8. Computer Technicians and Technology Coordinators I, II and III.
9-8.1. Each school shall provide a desk and a chair for the Computer Technicians and Technology Coordinators I, II and III. Telephone service and computer access shall be available.
9-8.2. The BOARD and the UNION recognize the value of professional orientation workshops and in-service meetings. A minimum of one city-wide in-service meeting per school year shall be scheduled during the school day for Computer Technicians and Technology Coordinators I, II and III. 9-8.3. Seniority will be considered in the selection of Computer Technicians and Technology Coordinators I, II and III seeking transfer to an announced vacancy. For this purpose, seniority shall be determined from the date of hire.
School Assistants. This Agreement does not cover:
School Assistants. School Assistant means a person who is ancillary to the process of teaching and includes laboratory technicians, laboratory managers, library technicians, integration aides, school and teacher aides.
(a) Total normal full-time hours worked during the week shall be 37.5 hours per week or 7.5 hours per day with a one hour unpaid lunch break.
(b) Commencement times will be based on hours that best suit work duties as outlined in the relevant Job Description. The timing of work may be varied by the School from time to time in line with operational requirements.
