Selection of New Faculty. A. All bargaining unit member vacancies shall be filled through a competitive process. The Vice Presidents for Academic Affairs, Workforce Development/CTE, and Student Affairs, in consultation with Human Resources, are the appropriate administrative authority in compliance with Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) criteria and College policy and shall establish minimum criteria for Faculty, Librarian, and Senior Academic Advisor positions.
B. The Administration recognizes the importance of conferring with Faculty in the hiring of new part-time and full-time Faculty, Librarians, and Senior Academic Advisors, while the Faculty also recognize their responsibility to participate in this process. Therefore, the appropriate Vice President will establish Faculty Hiring Committees consisting of full-time Faculty, Librarians, or Senior Academic Advisors as appropriate who will participate in the screening and interviewing of all candidates.
C. The committee shall be formed and will function as follows:
i. The appropriate Vice President or his/her designee will invite all Faculty, Librarians, or Senior Academic Advisors with Continuing Contract from the appropriate department to serve on the full- or part-time Faculty Hiring Committee. If an insufficient number of Faculty with Continuing Contract are available and/or interested in serving on the committee, Faculty without Continuing Contract will be invited to serve on the committee.
ii. The committee members shall review all applications for a Faculty vacancy and make recommendations as to which candidates to interview.
iii. The committee will interview and recommend finalists according to approved, objective criteria.
iv. The committee will file a written recommendation, listing finalists alphabetically and/or by ranked preference as directed by the Committee Chair, with the appropriate administrator concerning the employment of candidates.
v. Input from Faculty Hiring Committees will be utilized in the final selection.
vi. In the event that the hiring decision deviates from the Committee’s recommendation, the President shall provide feedback to the Committee. The final decision for the selection of new Faculty shall rest with the President.
Selection of New Faculty. Faculty members of the respective department shall be consulted in the selection of all new faculty. Procedures for faculty consultation will be specified in writing by the appropriate Xxxx.
Selection of New Faculty. The faculty member is thereafter employed in a full-time regular faculty position by the College to perform the same duties and responsibilities within the same discipline as performed while in the temporary position.
Selection of New Faculty. A full-time temporary faculty member, while employed as a full-time temporary, will be paid not less than the entry level for the appropriate degree under the current collective bargaining agreement. Full-time temporaries (grant funded) shall be eligible for annual salary increases.
Selection of New Faculty. 725 The College recognizes the importance of conferring with faculty in the hiring of new full-time faculty 726 members.
727 A. The College President or designee will establish faculty screening committees that will be 728 consulted prior to the hiring of new full-time faculty members. Any such committee shall 729 consist of full-time faculty members. The Union shall be notified of the creation and 730 membership of all faculty screening committees and may recommend additional members if 731 needed. If the Union cannot identify additional volunteers, the College may move forward 732 with the committee. When sufficiently diverse faculty members are available to serve on a 733 screening committee for the selection of new faculty, they shall have the following 734 credentials in the priority indicated:
735 1. The committee shall consist of at least four (4) tenured faculty members, the 736 majority of whom teach in the same field or subject area as the candidate under 737 consideration and who are assigned to the campus for which the candidate is being 738 considered.
739 2. If sufficient numbers of faculty are not available from the appropriate discipline and 740 campus or division, faculty members from another campus or division shall be 741 included, as needed, to meet the majority discipline requirement. If sufficient 742 numbers of faculty are still not available to meet the majority requirement, then 743 faculty from closely related disciplines shall be appointed.
744 3. For a library faculty position, the Administration will select faculty members to serve 745 on the screening committee from the library faculty.
746 4. For a counseling faculty position, the Administration will select faculty members to 747 serve on the screening committee from the counseling faculty.
748 5. In the event sufficient numbers of full-time, tenured faculty members are not 749 available, non-tenured faculty members may be asked to serve. Tenured faculty 750 shall have priority over non-tenured faculty for assignment to a screening 751 committee for selection of new faculty.
752 6. Temporary full-time faculty, whether grant-funded or not, shall not serve on a 753 screening committee.

The screening committee will include at least two faculty members from the appropriate Division, and may also include the Xxxxxxx or Xxxx, the Associate or Assistant Xxxx, the Director of Global and Multicultural Awareness and Special Assistant to the President, and a faculty member from a different Division. The President shall designate the chairperson of the committee. Faculty members who serve on a screening committee during the summer shall, whenever possible, receive notice by the end of the preceding spring semester.
B. The committee functions only as a screening committee and not a selection committee. As such, the screening committee’s function is solely to screen applications and supporting materials (from those deemed minimally qualified), to interview candidates, and to make a recommendation of the top qualified candidates to the Executive Vice President of Chief Academic Officer/College Xxxxxxx for further consideration. The committee will file a written recommendation, listing finalists alphabetically and/or by ranked preference.
