Library Faculty. 8.1 In recognition of the professional status of library faculty and to capitalize on current State University personnel, the Library Director will meet on a regularly scheduled basis with the library faculty in order to discuss goals, policies and service objectives of the library in the academic community.
8.2 For purposes of university governance the full-time library faculty shall elect a spokesperson who shall have three (3) basic functions: (1) to represent the library faculty to the Library Director if requested by the member; (2) to discuss ways and means by which the goals, policies and service objectives (including personnel recommendations) of the library can be fulfilled with given library resources; and (3) to facilitate participation of library faculty in the academic community. Both parties to this Agreement recognize and endorse the participation of library faculty in the governance of the academic community.
8.2.1 The full-time library faculty shall have a library faculty evaluation committee conforming to Senate requirements for evaluatory committees for the purpose of participating in the promotion, tenure, renewal, and professional assessment procedures. Evaluations shall be forwarded to the Library Director who may add an independent evaluation. In addition, the Library Director acting in lieu of a Xxxx may require special assessments pursuant to Article 4.13.
8.2.2 Full-time library faculty shall elect search committees which shall be responsible for making library faculty appointment recommendations to the Director.
8.3 Load credit activities of the library faculty shall include such activities as developing and maintaining the library collection of the university, providing bibliographic services (access to recorded information) to the university community, providing bibliographic instruction to students, and advising faculty, scholars, and the community in the use of these collections. Librarians shall be assigned general responsibilities which are appropriate to their education and experience. Such responsibilities shall be recommended by the full-time library faculty.
Library Faculty. Library faculty will be initially appointed for at least a one-year term beginning with the date of hire. In all such cases below, the length of such appointments and reappointments shall be solely within the discretion of the University.
Library Faculty. The standard workweek for library faculty shall be five days and the standard work year shall be eleven months, plus a one-month vacation. Any library faculty member who works in excess of the standard workweek or on official University holidays shall receive compensatory time off or pay in lieu thereof on a straight-time basis. Such compensatory time off or pay shall be determined by mutual agreement by the Xxxx of the Libraries and the librarian involved and shall be taken or paid within three weeks of the time such services were performed.
Library Faculty a. Subject to the provisions hereof, all members of the professional library staff shall enjoy full FACULTY status with all the rights, privileges and responsibilities pertaining thereto. For administrative purposes, the professional librarians shall constitute a department.
b. Library FACULTY in the performance of their duties shall be scheduled for no more than thirty-five (35) hours per week, and Library FACULTY also shall be expected, as are other FACULTY MEMBERS, to assume committee assignments and other campus responsibilities.
c. A Library FACULTY MEMBER'S schedule shall be based on library needs as determined by the President/designee in consultation with members of the Library FACULTY.
d. APSCUF shall conduct an election among all of the members of the Library FACULTY to designate a chairperson who shall act in a representational role for the department. The chairperson shall reflect the view of the members of the Library FACULTY in their consultations with the President/designee on matters of appointment of FACULTY, renewal and non-renewal of FACULTY, FACULTY development and evaluation, promotion, tenure and Library FACULTY MEMBER'S schedules. Effective fall semester of 2017, the library Department Chairperson shall receive a stipend in accordance with the following schedule: DEPARTMENT SIZE STIPEND 1-5 $625.00 6-10 $875.00 11-15 $1,125.00 16-20 $1,500.00 21-25 $1,750.00 26 or more $2,000.00 This chairperson shall not be subject to provisions of Article 6, Sections B.1.a., C., and D.
Library Faculty. Not later than March 1 of the first academic year of service if the appointment expires at the end of that appointment year or, if a one-year appointment expires during an academic year, at least three (3) months before its expiration. By December 15 of the second academic year if the appointment expires at the end of that appointment year or, if an initial two-year appointment expires during an academic year, at least six
Library Faculty. A. Normal Duties Library faculty members are responsible to the administrative representative for library services, or his or her designee, at the campus where assigned. In general, each library faculty member will be assigned activities directly related to the primary function of his or her designated area (i.e., automated systems, circulation, inter-library loan, cataloging, online services, collection development, and instructional support). Duties of library faculty members will also include:
1. assisting students, faculty, and community patrons in information retrieval;
2. instructing students and community patrons in the use of the library facilities in formal and informal settings;
3. assuming responsibility on an assigned basis for building and patron security in the absence of the immediate supervisor;
Library Faculty. Library Faculty from all colleges and from University Libraries shall compose a single College, and the role of Academic Unit Head shall be filled by the Xxxx.
Library Faculty. These members of the bargaining unit shall be available to perform duties during the period of their contractual appointments, as defined by the Notice of Appointment and the position description. Duties are those normal duties commensurate with University Library Faculty positions, and generally include: management of library operations and/or provision of library services, as well as broader involvement in university activities that have an impact on library goals, such as: scheduled teaching, course and curriculum planning; scholarly activities; service on committees; attendance at library and University meetings, spring commencement, and fall convocation; administrative activities as required for the library and/or University; assistance in the admission, orientations and registration of students, student support service activities, and participation in those activities that relate to student recruitment and retention; professionally related public service; and other duties as assigned.
Library Faculty. The minimum workload offered to unit adjunct library faculty I shall be seven (7) hours per week during the academic year plus an additional 63 hours during the remainder of the calendar year. Such unit adjunct library faculty may work as many additional hours as are available and for which they are qualified not to exceed fourteen (14) hours per week without the written approval of the Vice President for Teaching, Learning and Student Development and the Association within 48 hours of the request from the xxxx. Such additional approved load shall never exceed twenty-eight (28) clock hours per week. A unit adjunct library faculty I will have preference over non-unit adjunct library faculty for work they are qualified to do.
