Sessional Employee. An employee employed indefinitely for more than twenty- four (24) hours per week in a position for which Western requires staffing in a regular recurring pattern of work during at least six (6) months of each calendar year and a regular recurring absence from work during the balance of the year.

Sessional Employee. A sessional employee shall mean an employee who is hired to fill a recurring position which approximately coincides with the University: (A) Winter Session, for sessional positions to begin no later than September 30th and end no earlier than April 1st; or (B) Inter/Summer Session; or (C) Other academic cycles requiring sessional positions to work up to nine months per cycle. Such employees may be hired to work either full-time or part-time. Such employees shall be paid by the month or the hour. Full-time and part-time sessional employees shall be entitled to all the rights and privileges accorded under this Agreement to full-time and part-time continuing employees, respectively, except as noted below: (A) Personal Study Benefits (Article 21) Sessional employees shall be exempt from this benefit. (B) Employment Security (Article 34) Sessional employees shall be entitled to the internal placement, layoff, and recall procedures specified under Article 34.05, unless they have accepted continuing employment with the University.

Sessional Employee. 17.5.1 A sessional Employee is an Employee engaged to meet sessional program requirements or to meet unexpected sessional program demands, and be engaged on either a part time or casual basis. 17.5.2 Programs categorised as sessional programs are listed within the classification and salary scales. Additional programs may be identified as “sessional” during the life of this agreement. 17.5.3 On each occasion a sessional Employee is required to attend for work such Employee will be paid a minimum of 1 hour unless mutually agreed. 17.5.4 A sessional Employee will be given a minimum of 24 hours notice of any cancelled sessions or receive payment for such sessions. 17.5.5 All conditions of employment, excepting those as listed within this clause or specifically noted elsewhere in this Agreement, will be equivalent to the basis of engagement, that is, part-time or casual.
Sessional Employee is any employee appointed to a position of less than twelve (12) months in the financial year.
Sessional Employee. A sessional employee is a full-time or part-time employee hired for recurring sessional work for a duration with start and end months specified in the employee’s letter of appointment. Sessional employees will be temporarily laid-off at the end of their work session and recalled for the subsequent work session as specified in the employee’s letter of appointment. A sessional employee, while working, is entitled to all applicable provisions of the Collective Agreement. The eligibility rules for the pension plan and employment benefit plans will apply where applicable. While on temporary lay-off between sessions, eligible sessional employees will have the option to continue to receive health and dental, life, and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) coverage on the applicable cost-share basis; the eligibility rules for the pension plan will apply where applicable. Notwithstanding the above provisions, sessional employees remain subject to layoff in the ordinary course, in accordance with Article 32 – Layoff, Recall and Severance.
Sessional Employee. Employed by the Hospitality Services Department for an average of more than 24 hours per week for a period of 90 calendar days and for whom a termination date or summer layoff date has been stipulated.

Sessional Employee. Sessional employee shall mean an employee hired to work for a period of time related to a specific activity and/or program. The hours of work, the days worked per week and the duration of such activity/program are dictated by the participation rate. Sessional employees are exempt from the bargaining unit.

Related to Sessional Employee

  • Casual Employee Casual employee shall mean an individual who is hired on a job contract or on an hourly basis for unscheduled or irregular work. The only provisions of this Agreement applying to the employment of casual employees are contained in Schedule B.

  • Seasonal Employee Seasonal employee" means an employee who is appointed for no more than ten months during any 12 consecutive months but who is expected to return to work year after year.

  • Casual Employees A casual employee is one who is not regularly scheduled to work other than during periods that such employee shall relieve a regular full-time or regular part-time employee. Casual employees accumulate seniority on an hourly basis and are entitled to such benefits as are contained in the “Addendum - Casual Employees”.

  • Casual Employment 24.1 A casual Employee is an Employee employed on an occasional basis and whose work pattern is not regular and systematic. When a person is engaged on a casual basis, they will be supplied in writing that the engagement is to be as a casual, the job to be performed, the classification level, the actual or likely length of engagement including number of hours to be worked per week, and the relevant rate of pay. 24.2 A casual Employee shall be entitled to all of the applicable rates and conditions of employment prescribed by this Agreement except annual leave, personal leave, and payment for public holidays on which no work is performed. A casual Employee is entitled to unpaid bereavement leave, domestic violence leave and unpaid career’s leave. 24.3 Except on Saturdays and Sundays, on each occasion a casual Employee is required to attend work, the Employee shall be entitled to payment for a minimum of eight (8) hours work (with 0.8 of an hour on each of these days accruing toward an RDO) plus the relevant fares and travel allowance prescribed by clause 0 below. On Saturdays and Sundays, a casual Employee is entitled to payment for a minimum of four (4) hours, plus the relevant fares and travel allowance prescribed by clause 0 below. 24.4 A casual Employee for working ordinary time shall be paid 125% of the hourly rate prescribed in APPENDIX 1 for the Employee's classification. 24.5 A casual Employee required to work overtime, or weekend work shall be entitled to the relevant penalty rates prescribed in this Agreement: (a) where the relevant penalty rate is time and a half, the Employee shall be paid 175% of the hourly rate prescribed by APPENDIX 1 for the Employee's classification (b) where the relevant penalty rate is double time, the Employee shall be paid 225% of the hourly rate prescribed by APPENDIX 1 for the Employee's classification; and (c) where the relevant penalty is a public holiday, the Employee shall be paid 275% of the hourly rate prescribed by APPENDIX 1 for the Employee's classification. 24.6 For the purposes of clarity, the applicable contributions to BUSSQ, XXXX, CIPQ and BEWT or other funds nominated herein, must be made by the Employer in respect of casual Employees. A casual Employee shall also be entitled to receive, in addition to their casual rate, penalty payments for Overtime, work performed on weekends, work performed on public holidays and RDOs, Domestic Violence leave and unpaid cultural leave. 24.7 Termination of all casual engagements shall require one hour's notice by either the Employer or Employee, or the payment or forfeiture of one hour's pay, as the case may be. This clause will not reduce the entitlements of injured Employees.

  • Part-Time Employee Part-time employee" means an employee who is normally scheduled to work fewer than 80 hours in a biweekly payroll period.

  • Regular Part-Time Employee A regular part-time employee is an employee hired to fill a posted part-time position and is regularly pre-scheduled to work.

  • Seasonal Employees Seasonal employees still on trial service should refer to Article 71, Sections 2 and 3 regarding salary increases.

  • Term Employee Term employee means a new person employed without seniority for a specific time period or until the completion of a particular project in compliance with funding provided for that position or project. At the expiry of said term the employment of such employee shall be terminated unless the term employee is immediately hired as a full-time or part-time employee at which time the term employee's original starting date shall be utilized to establish their seniority.
