Shift Alterations. 6.04.01 Occasional changes to an employee's shift may occur as a result of changes to flight schedules, training, increases or reductions of staff, absences of employees on vacation, time off for union business, leaves of absence and sick leave.
6.04.02 Employees will be provided with at least twenty-four (24) hours notice in writing for a change of the start time of a scheduled shift and at least two (2) calendar days notice for a change in scheduled days off. These time limits may be reduced by mutual agreement between the Company and the affected employee.

Shift Alterations. 10.3.1. Train working alterations and employee absences can occur on a regular basis and at short notice. These alterations may result in shift cancellations, additional shifts, shift adjustments (eg. start times, lift up/lay back and train service numbers) or changes to shift lengths. Where these alterations occur, the affected employee will be advised as soon as possible with consideration being given to: The employee‘s previously worked shift; The time of day An employee‘s personal and family circumstances Fatigue management principles The number and length of shifts an employee has worked The breaks an employee has had between shifts worked . Where an employee has a reasonable concern about the alteration, the matter will be referred to the local depot Operations Coordinator or their delegated representative for resolution as soon as practicable.
10.3.2. Where it is necessary to alter or cancel a previously rostered shift, a minimum of over 30 hours notice from the rostered sign on time will be given. When this occurs, no penalty payment will be made
10.3.3. Where advice of a rostered shift alteration cannot be given within the 30 hours minimum period, alternate work must be provided up to the rostered shift of ordinary hours, within the undermentioned lift up/layback time limits. However, by mutual agreement an employee may elect not to claim alternate work as listed above and may nominate to work another job outside these parameters. This includes nominating to work on a day not previously rostered.
10.3.4. Lay back -is the process of having employees start their shift later than originally rostered to meet operational requirements. AER may lay back employees to a maximum of 2 hours from their advised sign on time. For each additional hour above the 2 hours that the employee agrees to lay back they will receive a stand alone payment of 1.7 hours for each additional hour.
10.3.5. Lift up - is the process of having employees start their shift earlier than originally rostered. AER may lift up employees to a maximum of 1 hour upon which time the shift limit will commence. For each additional hour above the 1 hour that the employee agrees to lift up above the 1 hour they will receive a stand alone payment of 1.7 hours for each additional hour.
10.3.6. Once an employee has been advised of their next rostered shift, such shift lengths cannot be shortened except by mutual agreement to a minimum of 6 hours for DOO shifts and 8 hours for all other shifts.

Shift Alterations. May only be applied amongst Part-Time shifts and work schedules and if applied, cannot exceed the hours of work provided in L1.04.03.
